Mtanya Matuja: The partnership between AFD and the AKDN
Posted June 13th, 2019 by librarian-hdIn March 2019, Princess Zahra Aga Khan and the Prime Minister of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa launched the completion of the second phase of a US$ 79.8 million (TZS 183 billion) expansion of the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam, which will enable the institution to serve over one million patients each year. The expansion was funded by a US$ 53.5 million (TZS 134 billion) loan from the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement - AFD) and a US$ 26.3 million (TZS 58 billion) contribution from the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Tanzania: Allocate Land to Aga Khan, PM Orders Dodoma City Directo 2019-03-11
Posted March 11th, 2019 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam — Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed the Dodoma City Council executive director to allocate land specifically for the Aga Khan Development Networks (AKDN) to invest in a bid to, among other things, help the country achieve universal health coverage.
The Premier issued the directive yesterday during the inauguration of the Sh192-billion worth expanded (Phase II) Aga Khan Hospital building in Dar es Salaam, insisting that the government wanted to keep on working closely with the Network to enhance improvement in various key sectors.

Tanzania: Aga Khan Launches Key Training Programme 2018-11-23
Posted January 24th, 2019 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam — The Aga Khan School of Nursing and Midwifery has initiated a training programme--Respectful Maternity Care--with a view to providing skills to nurses, midwives and clinical officers in public hospitals, dispensaries and health centres.
The programme was launched yesterday with more than 50 trainees including nurses, midwives and clinical officers from Ilala and Temeke district councils in Dar es Salaam city.

Aga Khan launches Sh25bn health project in Mwanza 2018-11-13

Mwanza. The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has launched a Sh25.3 billion project that aims at minimizing diseases, maternal and child mortality rates and improving access to reproductive maternal and newborn health (Impact), in Mwanza Region.
The project will cover district councils of Kwimba, Magu, Misungwi, Nyamagana, Ukerewe, Sengerema, Ilemela and Buchosa and is jointly being financed by Agha Khan Foundation Canada and the government.
