AKU’s Hayat mobile app wins first prize for maternal and neonatal health

The Aga Khan University’s Hayat mobile application has been recognised for its novelty and innovativeness at the international Commonwealth Digital Health Awards (CWDHA) 2022. The app won the top prize for the Maternal and Neonatal Health category at the 5th CWDHA for demonstrating improvements in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) care services.

The unique degree brings together two of the world’s leading universities and gives students the opportunity to study a topic of global significance while based in London and New York.

Columbia University and AKU have jointly developed an advanced curriculum for the program that includes a two-and-a-half-year sequence of reading and research seminars, interdisciplinary electives, and intensive foreign language training.

On 8 November, 2019 His Highness the Aga Khan was joined by His Excellency, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic for the inauguration of the Ismaili Imamat’s donation of a surgical robot system to one of Portugal’s largest medical universities, the Centro Hospitalar Universitario de Lisboa Central. The Minister of Health, Madame Marta Temido, government officials, diplomats, and leaders of the Aga Khan Development Network and the Ismaili Imamat were also in attendance.
