Dear brothers: With love have a gathering, O my believers and
speak from your mouths only the truth. Everyday (enjoy or seek)
the Vision of the Lord. Brother open up your sins and irreligious
activities(for repentance and purification).

jeere viraa gurgat ga(n)gaa teerathmaa(n)he naahi-e
ane nirmal keejee-e man
paanch padaarath paamee-e
jo purav hove punya...................................2

Dear brothers: Bath in the abode wherein the Guide, the Jamaat,
the Ganges and the place of pilgrimage are all present (i.e. JamaatKhaanaa),
and make your heart(mind) spotless. You will attain the five essential
virtues i.e, truth, patience, forgiveness, faith and remembrance of the Lord,
if your deeds of the past lives are complete and perfect.

[Since prayers and purifying rituals take place in JamaatKhaanaa,
it serves as a purifying place for the soul, hence bathing of the soul
must take place there. This is in contrast to the bathing that the
Hindus perform at the Ganges as part of the pilgrimage.
The presence of the 'Gat', the congregation, is to provide
support for the individual search for enlightenment.]

jeere viraa purav punya vinaa kyaa(n)thee paamee-e
ane saacho te satpa(n)th saar
satpa(n)th padaarath paamee-e
bhaai joi dil hove paak...............................3

Dear brothers: Without complete and perfect deeds of the past lives,
how can one attain(the spiritual benefits)? The essence of the True Path
is the Truth. One can only attain the substance and the mysteries of the
True Path if brother, the heart is pure.

jeere viraa paak saahebjeenu(n) naam chhe
tene ja(m)pee-e saas usaas
dur ma dekho dil maa(n)he vase
jem cha(m)paa ful maa(n)he vaas.......................4

Dear brothers: The Name (or Word, Command) of the Imaam is holy and true.
Remember it upon every breath. Do not regard(the Lord) as being remote as
He is present in the heart like the presence of the fragrance in a flower.

jeere viraa romerome maaro shaah vase

Dear brothers: Within every hair of my body, my Lord resides and He is not remote
even by a distance of one grain of simsim. By regarding Him thus, perform your
devotions; the Lord is present and seated in the heart.

jeere viraa sat bolo ane sate chaaljo
ane sat samo nahi koi saar
sakall ved sate rachyaa

Dear brothers: Speak about truth and conduct yourselves truthfully.
And there is nothing as exalted and pure as the truth. All the scriptures
have been created out (or for the sake) of truth. Brothers, by truth you
will cross over the limits of this material existence.

jeere viraa sat ma chhoddo maaraa munivaro
ane sat chhoddaye pat jaay
imaan sareekho divaddo

Dear brothers: Do not abandon the truth, O my believers.
The one who abandons the truth loses all respect and dignity.
Imaan is compared to a Lamp, through the brightness of which,
the Lord is attained.

jeere viraa rahennee ajvaallee chaa(n)d su(n)

Dear brothers: The brightness of the night comes from the moon and the
brightness of the day comes from the sun. In the same manner the
brightness of the body comes from 'Imaan' (faith). It lights the four directions
(everywhere; zaahir, baatin, awwal, aakhar).

jeere viraa nur naaraayannjeenu(n) teeyaa(n) vase

Dear brothers: The Light of the Lord resides in the heart which has true faith.
To such a soul, even the spirits of the heavens offer salutations and in
the hereafter, an abode in paradise is awaiting it.

Pir Shams

With sheer hands who could rend asunder the mountains

and could drink in one sip the waters of the sea? Such intrepid warriors have gone to dust.

What dost thou entertain pride for?

Refrain: O negligent slave (of God)! Adore God,

For thou shalt have to quit this transient world. ...1

That which is to take place today shall not be delayed

unto tomorrow but tomorrows shall happen today.

A time as short as a twinkle shall not be given as grace to thee; even a morcel shall remain in the mouth unchewed. ...2

With those whom you conversed smilingly, O slave of God!

He did not happen to survive for even a moment.

Carried on shoulders he was burried

and became topsyturvy. ...3

Queen Tararani wore a necklace worth nine crores, which she adored. This same Queen was sold in the Bazaar of Kashi (Benares) by her husband, King Harischandra. ...4

Benevolent Pir Shams, the preceptor, uttered the Ginan,

O Shah! Help all the Jamat to attain salvation. O momins!

Tender dasond to your Lord that you may get across

this world. ...5

HAM DIL KHALAQ ALLAH SOHI VASEJI

Pir Shams

Allah, the Creator of eternal nature dwells in the hearts of all;

He is the same Allah. ...1

Listen, O Mullah and O Kazi,

Who is the Creator of this universe?

He is the same Allah. ...2

It is the same clay from which everyone has been created.

Whether he is Hindu or Musalman;

The Creator is the same Allah. ...3

A Hindu is he who visits sixty-eight shrines,

A Musalman is he who visits a Mosque;

He is the same Allah. ...4

Neither a Hindu nor a Musalman recognizes my Lord.

For He is everpresent but is concealed from these physical eyes.

He is the same Allah. ...5

My mind becomes Musallah (the carpet for praying)

And Allah become my Kazi (one who lends the prayers)

My body becomes the Mosque.

Within this Mosque I perform the prayers.

How would ignorant people understand my way of praying?

He is the same Allah. ...6

Momin is he who knows the secret of self.

And follows the path shown by divine knowledge.

He is the same Allah. ...7

There is everything in divine knowledge.

Through this knowledge and meditation seek thy Lord,

Says Pir Shams, Listen to me my brothers, how one can achieve salvation without being a true momin.

He is the same Allah. ...8

HAMDIL KHALAK ALLAH SOHI VASEJI

Pir Shams

In the hearts of all of us resides the same God,

Who created and maintains the eternal nature

He is the same Allah ...1

Listen to me, O you mullah and kaji

Who created this world? ... Allah ...2

From this (the same) clay the whole world is made

In it who is a Hindu, who is a Muslim

The (creator of them all is) same Allah ...3

A Hindu is he who visits sixty-eight shrines

A Muslim (goes) to a Mosque

(In both of these places it is) the same Allah ...4

Neither a Hindu nor a Muslim recognises

my Lord (Hazar Imam). Who is the same Allah ...5

The mind is my mat, Allah is my Judge

My body (is) my Mosque,

(wherein I pray to the same Allah) ...6

Sitting within (my body) I perform prayer;

How would the ununiformed know my method?

(wherein I pray is to) the same Allah ...7

The food (if received of its own accord)

is a welcome maintenance

Otherwise a willing fast

Such should be concentration for your Lord ...8

The true believer is he who has the distinctive

knowledge

He follows the path guided by that knowledge ...9

All understanding is contained in the knowledge

and meditation

Meet (Allah) by searching, (and you will meet)

the same Allah ...10

Said Pir Shams, "O hear me, my brothers."

How to reach across safely (and get down safely

on the opposite bank) without (the help of)

the spiritual guide? (And to meet) the same Allah ...11

HAM DIL KHAALAQ ALLAH SOHI VASEJI

Pir Shams

Allah the Ceator who hath created the lasting;

Nature lives within all hearts.

He is the creator...1

Listen O Mulla! Listen O Kazi!

Who has created this universe?

He is the creator...2

The earth is created from this dust,

Amongst those who is Hindu and who is Muslim?

He is the creator...3

Hindu is he who performs sixty-eight pilgrimages,

Muslim is he who goes to Mosque.

He is the creator...4

Neither the Hindu nor the Muslim knows my Lord,

for my Lord is omnipotent.

He is the creator...5

My heart is the praying-carpet, Allah is my Qazi,

And my body is the Mosque.

He is the creator...6

Within myself I offer my prayers,

What would the ignorant understand the secret of my worship?

He is the creator...7

What He gives I eat, otherwise I fast;

Such is the devotion to my Lord.

He is the creator...8

Momin is he who knows the secret of self,

And follows the path of knowledge.

He is the creator...9

Knowledge of everything is contained in religious understanding,

Seek it and you will find it.

You are the sustainer of all beings, and most merciful are You.

The beginning of all things is from You, and the end of everything is unto You.

O Ali, You and none else but You...2

You have created, and further, You have given order and proportion to your creation. Indeed, You brought everything into existence,

O Ali, You and none else but You...3

You are the originator of the heavens and the earth,

And everything which belongs to dry land and water on this earth.

And your rule is extended over all of them.

O Ali, You and none else but You...4

Under the grace of your companionship Pir Shams has proclaimed that I have also submitted my whole self before You,
