BY SAYYED IMAAM SHAH

ejee satnaa ghatt veeraa srevee-e, ane ghattpaattnee vaar
sat saburee raakhee-e, bhaai ghattpaattne paas...............1

ghatt - holy water, heart
ghattpaatt - inner knowledge; table upon which holy water is served

Worship (serve) the holy water of truth, and do it during the ceremony
of "Ghatpaat" (Abe-e-safaa). Brothers maintain truth and patience at
the ceremony of "Ghatpaat".

ejee enne ghatte paamee-e, ane paamee-e aveechal raaj
aveechal raaj to paamee-e, jo hove ghatt vishvaas............2

With this holy water, you will attain, and indeed attain the everlasting kingdom.
You will attain the everlasting kingdom if you have faith in the holy water.

ejee neermal thaine nur peejee-e, ane neera(n)tar surat raakh
neemnu(n) fal to paamee-e, jo hove ghatt vishvaas............3

neera(n)tar - continuous neem - religious vow,rule

With purity drink the Light and maintain continuous concentration
(upon the Lord). You will attain the fruits of the observance of religious
vows and discipline if you have faith in the holy water.

ejee ghattpaatt maa(n)he dheeyaan-j raakhee-e
ane saache man vishvaas

During the "Ghatpaat" ceremony maintain the concentration
entirely and do it with true heart and conviction. At this ceremony
women and men will come. Maintain pure love and affection then.

ejee stree purush sarave ba(n)dhavaa, ane ben bhaainu(n) neh
najar neermal je nahee(n) raakhshe
tenee jaashe naragmaa(n) deh.................................5

Regard all the women and men as your relatives, and maintain love
of a brother and sister with them. The one who does not maintain a
pure vision (sight), his/her body will go to hell.

ejee dojakhe jaashere jeevddaa, jene ghattpaatt nahee(n) veeshvaas
taare ghattpaattnu(n) dharam sarave jaayshe

All the religious benefits accrued as a result of the ceremonies will
vanish and the body will go into fire completely.

ejee peer shaah kahetaa fal paamee-e, ane farmaan kahetaa daan
haija(n)daa kahetaa harakh aavshe, kaa-em kahetaa saaheb jaann
............7

You will attain the fruits by stating "Peer Shah" (while standing in the queue),
and by saying "Farmaan" (before drinking abe-e-safaa) you will have given a
great charity. By saying "Haizindaa" (before taking "Sukreet") happiness will
come and by saying "Kaayam Paayaa" the inner understanding of the Imaam will come.

ejee sayyed imaamshaah boleeyaa
ane tame evaare fal kaa(n)i gamaavo
par streethee jo chetsho, to ghatt sughatt hoy jaann.........8

Sayyed Imaamshah has spoken (this "ginaan"). Why do you lose
such (exalted) fruits. If you are mindful of getting involved in illicit
relationships, you will have an awareness (of the Lord) in every part of your being.

SATGUR BHETTYAA KEM JAANNEE-E BY PEER SHAMSH 34

ejee satgur bhettyaa kem jaannee-e, e man parkheene joy
cha(n)dan kere vaasare, bhaai neem suga(n)dhaa hoy...........1

How does one come to know that he/she has been embraced by the True Guide?
One must reflect upon this in the mind(heart). In the presence of sandlewood,
a lime tree absorbs it's fragrance though it may be bitter outwardly.

[Here the sandlewood stands for the True Guide (the Imaam) and the lime
tree stands for the momin. When a momin comes into contact with the Imaam
he/she is transformed and radiates goodness (good fragrance) and constant joy.
When this happens then the momin is indeed embraced by the Guide.]

ejee jees vanme(n) chandan bhayo, us van vase aapanno peeyu
chaalo sakhee us van jai-e, sukh paame aapanno jeev..........2

In the jungle (Jamaat Khaanaa) where the sandlewood (the True Guide)
is to be found, is indeed the jungle where your Beloved resides. Friends
let's go to that jungle so that our souls may attain peace and happiness.

ejee ham tam manmaa(n)he hoi rahyaa, tame kaa(n)i na lee-o veechaar
ham tam paddade hoi rahyaa, tame bhulee ma jaavo gemaar......3

I and You have been existing in the heart (mind) (always). Do not think about this
(or do not have any doubts about it). (This is not realised because) I and You have
been separated by a curtain (veil), so do not forget about this O ignorant ones.

ejee hamtam preet ba(n)dhaanneeyaa(n), ane hamtam bolyaa bol
hamtam donu(n) saa(n)hiyaa ek hay
saa(n)hiyaa hamsu(n) paddadaa khol...........................4

I and You are bound by love, and I and You have given each other a word (promise).
I and You Lord are one, Lord open the curtain (veil) for me
(so that I may have Your Vision).

ejee hamtam geerabh na keejee-e, enne girabhe hoye re vinnaas
hamtam geerabh jo vaaree-e, to poche manddaanee aash.........5

In the context of the relationship between I and You, do not retain any pride.
The one who is proud becomes rotten eventually. If in the context of the
relationship of I and You (murid and mursheed), pride is abandoned,
one attains the hopes of his/her mind (heart).

ejee hamtam raiyann viyaannee-aa, tame bhulee ma jaavo jan
hamtam chaa(n)dunne hoi rahyaa, tame hetesu(n) laavo man.....6

When the relationship between I and You (mureed and the mursheed) is established,
the night (of darkness) is over. Do not forget about this friends. The relationship of
I and You is radiant like the light of the moon, so bring your hearts with love
(when you come to us in Jamaat khaanaa).

ejee hamtam samuddhra beddeeyaa(n), jem laage laher nu(n) pur
hamtam nadeeyaa(n) vahee gayaa, satgur sohdev varse nur......7

The relationship between I and You is like a boat in an ocean,
as it sails rythmically across the waves(an expression of happy and
comfortable relationship between a mureed and a mursheed). Before this,
the relationship between I and You was like the flow of two separate rivers
(with obstacles on the way). The True Guide, the Divine Being (sohdev)
bestows His light in this relationship.

ejee satgur nur pattu(n)taro, e gur paratak dev
kayaa dai gurku(n) sa(n)toshee-e
ane kesee keejee-e sev.......................................8

The True Guide and the Light are similar (and the same).
This Guide is the manifest Divinity. What can we give this (Divine) Guide
and obtain satisfaction of giving and how to worship and serve Him
(in a rewarding manner).

ejee sevaa saache mane keejee-e, to ab kuchh deeyaa na jaay
dil deeyaa man nehsu(n), ane adako vaadhe neh................9

If one serves Him with true heart(intentions), then whatever given in
this manner is never gone (wasted). If one gives the heart happily,
his/her affection and love (for the Guide) increases thus.

ejee dil deeyaa tenne sab kuchh deeyaa, ahonis jaago maaraa vir
karodd tetreesasu(n) jai meelo, em boleeyaa shamsh peer.....10

The one who has given his/her heart has indeed given everything.
My brothers remain awake (in knowledge and remembrance) day and night.
Then you will go and meet the thirty three crores of the liberated ones.
This has been said by Peer Shamsh.

Oh loved one, have hearty conversations with the True Guide

and drink the holy water (water of life - mercy- geenaans) every day.

The Lord, the Master is seated having kindled the Light. Then worship

(Him) in a loving manner.

Oh loved one, the Lord has arrived at my courtyard (doorstep) and has

Oh loved ones, for many births I have been in an unmarried state,

and the Lord has now married me (by coming to visit me, or by entering my heart).

He has freed me from the cycles of eighty four lakh births and rebirths. Such is the

knower of my heart (interior), whom I have attained.

In the world of spirits, I witness Him, as the Supreme Lord.

He indeed is the True Guide, the Imaam. He has accepted my surrender

and submission of many births and has bestowed the everlasting

exalted rank of freedom.

Oh loved ones, all the saints (devoted souls) will attain the exalted

rank of freedom which contains the experience of the Truth,

Consciousness and Joy (sat chit anand). The Guide Sohdev

(Peer Sadardeen) says: "we have attained the Lord in the manner

of small rivers meeting and blending with the ocean".

[The state of sat chit anand is the one in which the truth,

consciousness or faith and anand occur simultaneously.

Joy accompanies true faith and is indeed the sign of true faith.

One cannot have one without the other.]
