SAKHI MAHAPAD KERI WAAT

Pir Sadardeen

Friend! Rare individuals are aware of the exalted position (in the spiritual field). Only he that hath acquired the True Preceptor (Satguru) i.e. Hazir Imam can comprehend it. ...1

Friend! From the navel there starts 'Sohan'(1) with the exhalation and the 'Hans'(2) repeats the High word in such a way that the string of remembrance does not break. ...2

Friend! When the 'Sukhamna'(3) which is the combination of 'Ingla'(4) and 'Pingla'(5) start working, both the moon and the sun kill the promptings of desire. ...3

Friend! When the confluence of the three 'Triveni'(7) makes its appearance in the body, the eternal divine light appears and it glitters in such a way as to give the impression of the shower of pearls i.e. eternal bliss. ...4

Friend! 'Vanknad'(8) is the true destination where 'Nirat' (meditation) and 'Surat'(bliss) combine to experience the miracle of the spiritual exercices. ...5

Friend! All these indications (achievements) are still to be considered low (not sufficient). The (conveted) destination is still at a lofty place and one has to ascend still higher. ...6

Friend! Younder the 'Panch-Kosh'(9) (body) there lieth that destination. Make it your target, the object of adoration. (Proceed) with love and controlling your respiration. ...7

Friend! When every part of the body (lit. every hair on the body) starts muttering (the Ism-e-azam), all the carnal enemies (desires) start hiding themselves. ...8

Friend! The person forgets the existence of body when 'Surati'(10) goes high up in the head (as a result) like fine streaks of light it spreads out. ...9

Friend! (Then the person) visualizes the fort of high seat

i.e. Paradise. He also sees seven peninsulas (11) and nine continents (12). (His internal eyes open up). ...10

Friend! Neither the Vedas nor the Books can lead one unto it (the Noor). There is neither day nor night nor even sun or shadow (when one attains the Noor). ...11

Friend! My Lord is not such who could be described.

My Lord who is unseen and nameless is to be seen with one's

proper eyes. ...12

Pir Sadardeen says: Seen have I with my own eyes

the unseen and the nameless Lord whom I have found

so sweet. ...13

SAKHEE MAHAAPAD KEREE VAAT
PEER SADARDEEN

sakhee mahaapad keree vaat, koik jaannere
jene satgur meeleeyaa saar, sohee peechhaannere...................1

O beloved ones (or friends), only very few people know about
the mysteries of the Exalted State (or High Level, or 'Maarifati State').
Only those who have attained the recognition of the True Guide
(in His essence) have in truth known about it.

sakhee naabh kamall ghatt maa(n)he ke soha(n)g ootthere
tee-aa(n) jaap jape chhe ha(n)s ke taar na tutte re...............2

O beloved ones (or friends), (In this state) breath ('soha(n)g')
arises from the lotus like navel and the soul(ha(n)s) recites
the 'Word'(Isme - azam or the name of the Lord), without
breaking the string('taar'), i.e. without breaking the rhythm.

sakhee i(n)galaa pi(n)galaa saar ke sukhmannaa naaddee re
tee-aa(n) cha(n)ddhr suraj malee be ke manchhaa(man-ichhaa)
maaree re................................................................3

O beloved ones, (In this state), Inglaa, Pinglaa and Sukhmana
nerves or force channels get so activated that you feel that the
'sun' (universal mind, divine intellect, supra consciousness) and
the 'moon' (human mind, ego) have become one or joined together
and all the mental desires are destroyed or have disappeared.
[This experience signifies the end of the lower life and the
beginning of a higher one].

sakhee travennee ghatt maa(n)he ke akha(n)dd jyotire
tee-aa(n) zagmag zagmag thaay ke varase moteere...................4

O beloved ones, (In this state), when the mind is activated by
(the three nerves) 'travennee', it experiences the 'Eternal Light'
(non perishable or non extinguishable light - 'akha(n)dd' jyot).
It dazzles like the shower of pearls.

sakhee va(n)kh naadd mukaam ke saachore kahee-e re
tee-aa(n) neerat surat malee be ke paracho laiye re...............5

va(n)kh naadd mukaam - curved home of nerves or force channels
paracho - marvel, miracle
surat - consciousness, thought
neerat - love

O beloved ones, consider the 'nerve curvature', the place between
the two eyes as the true place. It is there that the two eyes should
meet and remain steady or where the consciousness and love
should be focussed and where the miracles and wonders are experienced.

sakhee ettalaa sarve nishaan melyaa neechore
bhaai tethee u(n)chaare desh ke chaddavaa unchaare................6

All the experiences above are to be discarded and not to be given
too much significance as the real destiny of the soul is even higher.
[All the mystical experiences that are elluded to in these verses are
only tentative, as an indication of the extra sensory experience.
However these may not occur in all cases as the final destiny is
even higher and therefore these may confuse some aspirants about
the final experience. People have managed to get the higher and
ultimate experience without these experiences.]

sakhee paa(n)ch kosh par dhaam ke nishaan dhaaree re
tee-aa(n) dharee surat nu(n) dhyaan swaaso maaree re..............7

O beloved one, your final abode is enveloped by five sheaths
(kosh) between your body and the ultimate. It is there that you
should focus your concentration and breath.

[The five sheaths that screen the ultimate reality from the normal experience are:

1) ana(n)damaya kosha - the heart, chitta, the spiritualised atom, in which
ahamkara (the idea of separate existence of self) appears.
It is composed of the four ideas 'om' (the Word), 'kala' (Time),
'desaa' (Space) and 'anu' (the Atom) and it feels and enjoys
and thus is the seat of bliss, 'ana(n)d'.

2) jnaanaamaya koshaa - budhi, the seat of knowledge,
'jnaanaa'. It is of electro - magnetic influences, the manifestation
of the higher mind (the budhi), which determines what is the truth.

3) manomaya koshaa - the third is the body of manas,
the lower mind, composed of the organs of senses.

4) pranaa maya koshaa - the fourth is the body of energy,
life force or praanaa, composed of organs of action.

5) annamaya koshaa - the fifth and last of these is gross matter,
the Atom's outer coating, which becoming Anna, nourishment,
supports this visible world.

sakhee saghallaa rome rom ke laagyaa japvaare
tyaare saghallaa ghattnaa chor ke laagyaa chhupvaare..............8

O beloved one, (In this state), every pore in your body will vibrate
with the 'Word' (jaap) and all the robbers of the mind
(evil thoughts and desires) will start disappearing.

sakhee tee-aa(n) pee(n)dd tannee khabar ke saghallee visaree re
jyaare suratee chaddee bhrahama(n)dd ke futtee nisaree re.........9

O beloved one, (in this state), all the discomforts of the body get
forgotten when the mind breaks through the ordinary consciousness
and reaches the state of "Brahma" (Supra-consciousness or Hakikati State).

sakhee arasparas naa kott joyaa neesaree re
evaa sapt dip nav khand ke joyaa parakhee re.....................10

O beloved ones, (In this state), I have observed having gone to that state,
marble forts and palaces. I have also seen and verified for myself,
the seven islands and the nine continents (the entire world) in the experience.

sakhee ved kitaab maa(n)he ke e gam naahee re
tee-aa(n) nahee divas nahee raat ke dhup na chhaa(n)i re.........11

O beloved ones, the description or the experience is not given in the vedas
(scriptures) or in any books because in this state there is neither day nor
night nor sun nor shade. (In other words this experience is
beyond intellect and hence undescribable.)

sakhee kahevaa sareekho nathee ke maaro saamee jee re
eto jovaa sareekho chhe alakh anaamee re.........................12

O beloved ones, my Lord (attained through this experience) does
not bear any telling (as He is undescribable) and He is nameless.
He can only be seen or experienced.

sakhee alakh anaamee saaheb laagyaa mitthaa re
bhanne peer sadardeen shaah, me najare deetthaa re...............13

O beloved ones, this nameless and indescriptible Lord was felt to
be very sweet to me. Peer Sadardeen teaches this ginaan and says:
"I have seen the Lord with my own eyes".

From the realm of heaven the clay was ordered, o brother, the clay was ordered. Then, Lord, together You caused the body's forms to be fashioned. In the circle of the face, You lit two lamps, and within the heart You recited the Word.

We are strangers who have come from afar, brother, and have very far still to go. O God, how do I know, o Lord, how do I know what will happen, or how the Lord will check my account? May the Creator forgive our sins.

Some are asleep while others are awake, but few are those creatures who earn to meritorious effect. The whole world is asleep, only the Creator is awake, the Lord God is awake. This is the sum of what Pir Fazil Shaah has said.

SAB GHAT SAMI MARO BHARPUR BETHA
Pir Sadardeen
In every body my Lord is perfectly present. O ignorant men!
Look not for Him away from you. ...1

Refrain: He is the only Glorious, O brother.

To a veracious, My Lord is ever present as is, in the eye,
the iris. ...2

In the moon-bedecked sky there is but one moon, but its reflexion
can be seen in numerous bowls, be they in millions.
(i.e. in the heart of every individual the same Lord exists) ...3

The Pir has shown you to the Shah who lives in Sehetar peninsula
(Arabian peninsula). But in Batin He is everywhere. ...4

He is not shown to be existing at a distance (from you, but)
he that taketh Him to be away, no work of his shall be successful....5

O slaves of God! Earn for yourselves meritorious deeds.
Your Lord, who is the first is ever with you. ...6

Amongst the Trilok (three regions, viz: swarg-heaven; patar-subterranean; dharti-earth)
just like the fragrance in the flower. ...7

As is the fragrance in the flowers, so is my Lord present in your
hearts. O you ignorant people! Do not conceive Him to be away
from you. ...8

My Lord is present in every being in such a manner as is the
ghee contained in the milk. ...9

In every individual my Lord is nearer than the hand and in every
individual He is fully present. ...10

O God, the First Cause! Thy limits are unknown. Momins have Thy
recognition through the Pirs. ...11

The moon and the sun, the wind and the water, cannot compare with
my Lord. ...12

The True Preceptor is like the philosopher's stone and the
followers are like copper. When the copper comes in contact with
the philosopher's stone it becomes gold. The followers gain
spiritual enlightenement from the contact of the Imam. ...13

In this Kaljoog there are false Pirs through whose guidance the
final goal can never be reached. ...14

Take that posterity of Imam to be your Pirs. It is with their help
that you will get across the mortal world to your final abode. ...15

The imperceptible (Alakh) great Lord (Shah) whom the Pir hath
shown, is Ali, who hath come in the West. ...16

The Lord who has taken birth in the West is now manifestly known to
you. O momins! Recognize Him to be your True Lord. ...17

When there was neither earth nor sky, only thy Lord existed....18

That day the Pir was near the Lord, O my momins. ...19

Nabi Muhammad existed from the beginning and he has now come to
India in the person of Pir Sadardeen. ...20

I know not the bound of the Gurnar (Pir Shah) whom the momins have
recognized through the Pirs. ...21

Pir Sadardeen says in this Ginan full of divine knowledge:
"O momins! You have been told everything in advance." ...22

ne sab ghatt bharpur betthaa ek jeeyo.......................10

O momins: My lord is nearer to every being than the hands,
and He is indeed omnipresent in every being.

ejee aval ilaahi tero paar na jaannu
ane peer ne parsaade moman paayaa ek jeeyo..................11

O Lord (Imaam)! You are foremost Divine (in your substance)
and I do not know your limits. Momins have this recognition
through the peers.

ejee cha(n)do ne suraj pavan ne paannee
mere gur samaa tol na koi ek jeeyo..........................12

O momins: The moon, the sun, the winds and the water;
all these cannot be compared in might to my Guide.

ejee satgur paaras ane munivar traa(m)baa ne
bhette to sovan hoy ek jeeyo................................13

O momins: The True Guide is like the philosopher's stone
and the followers are like copper. When the copper comes
into contact with the philosopher's stone, it becomes gold.
(momins become transformed when they come into contact with the Imaam).

ejee aa kaljug maa(n)he peer bot kilaave
pann tees thakee se(n)saa na mattejee ek jeeyo..............14

O momins: In the present age many individuals regard
themselves as the guides but one cannot obtain salvation
from worldly bondage through them.

ejee aal imaam kee peer karee jaanno
jethee bhav saagar tame chhutto ek jeeyo....................15

O momins: Regard the 'Peers' as the progeny of the Imaams.
It is due to the faith in this authority that you will overcome
the difficulties of crossing over the ocean of material existence.

ejee alakhvaddo shaah peere deekhlaayaa
so purakh paachhame alee aayaa ek jeeyo.....................16

O momins: The indescriptible Lord whom the 'Peer' has shown,
is indeed Alee who has manifested in the West in a complete manner.

ejee paachhame aayaa shaah paratak paayaa
tame moman saach peechhaanno ek jeeyo.......................17

O momins: The Lord who has taken birth in the West
is now manifestly known to you. O momins! regard Him as
the embodiment of the truth.

ejee dhartee nahotee aasamaan na hotaa
tees deen tu(n) ek ilaahee ek jeeyo.........................18

O momins: When there was neither the earth nor the heavens,
the Lord was the only principle that existed on that day.

ejee tisdeen peer saaheb jee ke paase
tame sunno maaraa moman bhaai jee ek jeeyo..................19

O momins: On that day the Peer was with the Lord (Imaam).
O my momins listen to this truth.

ejee pahele dha(n)dhukaar maa(n)he nabee muhammed mustaphaa
sohee guru ja(m)pudeep maa(n)he aayaa ek jeeyo..............20

O momins: In the beginning and in the void,
Prophet Muhammed the Chosen was there. It is indeed the same Guide
(Peer) who has come to the Indian Subcontinent.

ejee gurnar kero paar na jaannu
je peerne parsaade moman deetthaa ek jeeyo..................21

O momins: I know no bounds of the 'gurnar'
(Peer and Shaah= HaazarImaam), of whom the momins have
been blessed to recognise through the Peers.

ejee geenaan mahaaras peer bhannaave sadardeen
ame aagam kahine sunnaayaa ek jeeyo.........................22

O momins: This 'geenaan' which is full of Divine knowledge
and wisdom, is taught by Peer Sadardeen.
(O momins!) You have been told everything in advance.
