Dubai: North America’s sole museum dedicated to Islamic arts and cultures — the Aga Khan Museum — held its first international preview at the Ismaili Centre Dubai on Tuesday.
Located in Toronto, Canada, the Aga Khan Museum showcases a collection of more than 1,000 artefacts and artworks — in ceramic, metalwork, ivory, stone and wood, as well as textiles and carpets, among others — that span more than 1,000 years. The collection presents an overview of the artistry of Muslim societies from Spain to China.

Nestled in one of Bur Dubai's older districts is one of the emirate's best kept architectural secrets: the Ismaili Centre of Dubai. It is a 13,000-square-metre structure designed by the Egyptian duo Rami El Dahan and Soheir Farid, who drew inspiration from Cairo's Fatimid mosques.

The structure was inaugurated in 2008 by Prince Karim, the Aga Khan, in the presence of senior UAE officials. A 3,000-square-metre public neighbourhood park was also created on parts of the land based on Islamic garden themes. The architecture is an amalgamation of everything that is beautiful in Islam.

2008, March 23: General/ HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received in Abu Dhabi yesterday HH Prince Aga Khan, Leader of the Ismaili community who is currently visiting the country along with his daughter Princess Zahra and his son Prince Rahim. 2008, March 27 - Dubai: Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Shiite Ismaili Muslims, yesterday said that the new Ismaili Centre in Dubai is a place for peaceful contemplation. 2008, March 28 and 29 Princess Zahra and H.H. The Aga Khan's horses are running in Dubai at Nad al Sheba Racecourse, Dubai Sheema Classic saturday 29 March. DARJINA is a filly owned by P Zahra who has good record in French Races. Her jockey would be wearing Brown & Green colours. MOURILYAN who was recently sold by The Aga Khan is also racing.

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali is expected to announce reciprocal measures to turn the Indo-Pakistan thaw into a virtual flood at a public rally in the north-west city of Mansehra, 70km north of Islamabad amid intense speculation he will announce resumption of overflights and more importantly, name an envoy to India.A government official said he would announce 'an important initiative' at the rally.
