H.H. The Aga Khan arrived at the Serena Kampala (Uganda) at 9:00pm local time this Tuesday 24th February 2015. The next day Mowlana Hazar Imam met His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni at the State House in Entebbe. On 26 February, he attended, with Princess Zahra, the AKU Convocation at 11:00 AM Kampala time (GMT+3).

The Aga Khan was speaking at the 15th Convocation ceremony for the Aga Khan University where 49 students graduated in various medical disciplines at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday morning.

His Royal Highness the Aga Khan has promised an improvement in Uganda’s health and education sector that will see Ugandans stop seeking treatment abroad. He says this will be possible with investment in education institutions and medical workers.

The Aga Khan was speaking at the 15th Convocation ceremony for the Aga Khan University where 49 students graduated in various medical disciplines at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday morning.

This development comes as the university which operates in 8 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa is planning to invest over one billion dollars over the next 15 years in East Africa

Kasangati Orphans Fund Society (KOFS) has said continuing food donations received from the Shai Ismaili Muslim community, who are the followers of His Highness the Aga Khan, has enabled them to feed 800 orphans under their care.

Located in Kawanda, Wakiso District, the orphanage is called Kasangati because it started from there with few children but later relocated to near Kawanda following an increase in the number of orphans sheltering at the orphanage.
