Remarks by His Highness the Aga Khan upon receiving the UCSF Medal in San Francisco, California

His Highness the Aga Khan, the spiritual leader (Imam) of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, visited the University of California, San Francisco on April 26 to gain insight into the driving forces behind UCSF’s excellence in research and education, and to deepen the partnership between UCSF and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). He was also awarded the UCSF Medal, the University’s equivalent of an honorary degree, by Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH.

UCSF Awards Medals to Three Health Innovators for Outstanding Contributions

Three distinguished individuals were recognized on April 26 with the UCSF Medal – the University’s highest honor – to acknowledge those who have made outstanding contributions in areas associated with the University’s mission.

The UCSF Medal was presented at the 2011 Founders Day banquet at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco.

Chancellor Susan Desmond-Hellman presents His Highness the Aga Khan with the 2011 University of California San Francisco Medal, the University's highest honour.
