2008, Juin 18: PARIS - Le prince Karim Aga Khan, chef spirituel des Ismaéliens, a fait son entrée mercredi à la prestigieuse Académie des Beaux-Arts à Paris en tant que membre associé étranger, occupant le fauteuil de l'architecte Kenzo Tange décédé en 2005. Le prince Karim Aga Khan qui, en tant que chef religieux de la communauté ismaélienne, courant de l'islam chiite, ne portait pas l'habit vert traditionnel des académiciens, a été accueilli par les solennels roulements de tambours de la Garde républicaine.

2009, January 18: Meeting between Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and His Highness the Aga Khan. (PHOTO: MFA) - Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo was hosted to lunch by His Highness the Aga Khan at the latter's residence in Paris on 18 January 2009. It was a follow-up to their earlier meeting in December 2008 when the Aga Khan visited Singapore as part of his Golden Jubilee celebrations. During the lunch, His Highness conveyed his decision to establish an Ismaili Centre and regional representative office of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Singapore.

The Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recently invited Mowlana Hazar Imam to address a full session of its Executive Board, which met at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
At the Executive Board's specific request, Hazar Imam's speech was preceded by a 30-minute slide presentation on the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) by Guillaume de Spoelberch, Executive Director of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and a member of the Board of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC).

Paris's flag-bedecked international exposition centre, Porte de Versailles, was the venue of Mowlana Hazar Imam and Begum Salimah's first visit to the European Jamat on Thursday, July 3rd, 1980. Ismailis from France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany; Switzerland, Italy and Spain, converged on Paris for this long-awaited Mulakat after weeks of preparation.

I am especially happy that the Ismaili Imamat has been given the opportunity to participate in a Forum organised by and for all those concerned with the difficulties facing the populations of mountain regions, and to share lessons that have been learnt, to exchange mutual experience and advice, to better identify the problems that exist, and to try, as part of a joint effort, to propose new and more efficient solutions.
