Alcatel < ALCATEL A > a annoncé lundi avoir remporté un contrat 'de plusieurs millions d'euros' portant sur la fourniture d'un réseau GSM en Afghanistan.
Ce contrat a été signé avec le consortium international TDCA (Telecom Development Company Afghanistan) - placé sous la direction de l'Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) et Monaco Telecom International - qui a acquis en janvier dernier la nouvelle licence GSM afghane.

Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, son of the late Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan and the late Princess Andrée Aga Khan, died in Boston yesterday, aged 70 after a short illness. Coincidentally, his half-brother, the late Prince Aly Khan died on exactly the same day forty-three ago. The younger of Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah's two sons, Prince Sadruddin was the uncle of the present and 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismaili Muslims, His Highness the Aga Khan.

The Aga Khan and his German-born wife announced the birth on Tuesday in Paris of a son, Prince Aly Muhammad.The prince and his 36-year-old mother, Begum Inaara Aga Khan, were doing well, according to the Aga Khan's press office. There was no immediate word on the weight of the child. The 63-year-old Khan is the 49th hereditary imam of the Ismaili Muslim community, which has a following of 12-15 million people worldwide.

The Aga Khan's brilliant three-year-old colt, Dalakhani, was named the Cartier Horse of The Year at the annual end-of-season Cartier Awards dinner held in London last night. The horse's list of honours already included the French Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe before he landed the most prestigious racing award in Europe.
His trophies, for Horse of The Year and Three-Year-Old Colt, were picked up by his trainer, Alain de Royer-Dupre and Princess Zahra Aga Khan, who is taking an increasingly-prominent role in her father's breeding empire.

It is a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to address this inaugural session of the World Mountain Forum.
I am especially happy that the Ismaili Imamat has been given the opportunity to participate in a Forum organised by and for all those concerned with the difficulties facing the populations of mountain regions, and to share lessons that have been learnt, to exchange mutual experience and advice, to better identify the problems that exist, and to try, as part of a joint effort, to propose new and more efficient solutions.

Funeral ceremonies for Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan who died in Boston on 12th May, will be conducted in Geneva, Switzerland.

Arrangements have been made for members of the diplomatic corps, government officials and close friends to pay their last respects to Prince Sadruddin at the Chateau de Bellerive, 25 Chemin du Milieu, 1245 Collonge-Bellerive between 3:00 p.m. (1500 hours) and 8:00 p.m. (2000 hours) on Thursday, 15th May, 2003.
