Aga Khan III given a grand reception by the leaders of the Indian communities in Burma - 1914-02-13
Posted March 17th, 2009 by heritageFebruary 13, 1914 -Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III was given a grand reception by the leaders of the Indian communities residing in Burma at the Jubilee Hall at approximately 5 p.m. The Honourable U. Hpay was voted to the chair, and he started the proceedings. The address of welcome was read by U. May Oung (which was later printed in the 'The Rangoon Gazette,' on February 16 under the title "Advise to the Indian Residents in Burma"). The address was then enclosed in a silver casket surmounted by a golden peacock and was then presented to Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III.

In the afternoon, His Royal Highness accompanied by Princess Salimah drove to the Prince Aly Khan Boys' Academy at Malir to perform the opening ceremony of the Academy established by the Ismailia Youth Services in memory of Hazar Imam's illustrious father the late Prince Aly S. Khan.

Hazar Imam and Begum Salimah visited Prince Aly Khan Boys' Academy to perform its opening ceremony. Hazar Imam said; 'The Ismailia Youth Services have provided a magnificent example which I hope will be followed, not only by my Jamat in Pakistan, but also by my Jamat in other parts of the world.'

In his citation, Al-Haj Sayid Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Vice-Chancellor of the University said; 'In a short span of 12 years as Imam, His Royal Highness has shown that he is endowed with wisdom, versatility, sagacity and statesmanship which are characteristic of his noble and great family.

Remember Prince Shah Karim, before he became Imam, went to Magagascar under instruction of his grandfather with a Talikah in 1956 to recite for the first time the new Arabic Dua to the Jamat.

Aga Khan III Stayed in Zanzibar 29 days while The First Constitution was prepared - 1905
Posted March 17th, 2009 by heritage1905 - Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III visited Africa and stayed in Zanizibar for 29 days. Imam brought with him the owner of Sarswarti Press, Mr. Vithaldas N. Suratia to write the Farmans. Mr. Suratia later published Farman books. In the Farman book No. 15A, Mr. Suratia gives a detailed account of the Zanizibar visit. According to these details, Imam was in Zanzibar for 29 days when the first Constitution of the Jamat was prepared and ordained.
