Jaagat kenv nahire,
bhalaa tun jaagat kev nahi re;
bhavar bhae pastaae rayo,
tun jaagat kev nahi re ... ...

O friend! Why aren't you awake? In the morning (time of judgement) you will regret, why aren't you awake?

Eji Kaal ko bhavaro faanso daale,
bhavar gufaa ki jaalire;
usme tun sapaddaae gayaa,
nikal jaaegi vaari re - bhalaa tun 1

O brother! The angel of death has thrown his noose around your neck in which you are caught. In this manner you pass your time entangled.It is the time for escaping, why aren't you awake?

Aal nabi ki aulaad Ali ki,
Panj-Tan paak bakhaano re;
Hassan Hussen do noor pechhaano,
unse umat saari re - bhalaa tun 2

Praise the progeny of the Prophet and the offspring of Hazarat Ali i.e Panjtan Pak. Recognise the Noor of both Hazart Hasan and Imam Husein through whom the whole Umma is existing.

Raheniko sapno bisaaro piyaare,
kaae kun nindh me khovo re;
Gur charan ke bal bal jaaie,
em kahe chhe Imaam Shaah baalo re
- bhalaa tun 3

O loved one! Forget the dream of the night, why are you lost in sleep. Sacrifice yourself at the feet of the Guide. In this manner Sayyed Imam Shah tells a child.

to aavo Shaah ne hajur ji - jire bhaai re 1

O brother! Earn good deeds o my believers, then you may come in presence of the Imam.

Jire bhaai re sutak je na pale ne gat maan nahi aave;
aaviyaa te mankhaa avtaar ji - jire bhaai re 2

O brother! Inspite of coming here as a human manifestation, if a person does not give up impurity and does not come to the congregation....

Jire bhaai re antakaal tene doelaa thaase;
jam te karse tene jor ji - jire bhaai re 3

O brother! For this person the moment of death will be full of agony. The angel of death will deal severly with him/her.

Jire bhaai re marann vela tene maahaadan raache;
lok kuttam sarve dekhe ji - jire bhaai re 4

O brother! At the time of this person's death the Great Day will become evident. His kinsfolk and people will look on.

Jire bhaai re mukaame jaai tene meline aave;
taare lese lekho te gor ji - jire bhaai re 5

O brother! They will return from the graveyard having left him there. At that time the grave will take account of him.

Jire bhaai re saami ne saranne je jiv sove;
tene kiriyaan karvi saar ji - jire bhaai re 6

O brother! He who desires to come in the presence of the Lord, is required to perfrom virtuous deeds.

Jire bhaai re sutak bhaar na raakhie rati;
Gur ji kahe chhe purkaar ji - jire bhaai re 7

O brother! Do not retain any burden of impurity, the Guide admonishes thus.

Jire bhaai re saambharo momano ame kahi samjaaeyaa;
sati jiv saaheb ne vaalaa ji - jire bhaai re 8

O brother! Listen o momins, we have announced through speech. The pure soul is dear to the Imam.

Jire bhaai re Pir Imaam Shaah ruddaa ginaan sambhraave;
momano cheti ne chaalo ji - jire bhaai re 9

O brother! Sayyed Imam Shah announces such a lovely Ginan. O momins! live cautiously.

Jiv-ni chintaa have karo

Eji Jiv ni chintaa have karo
ane karnni karo tame saar;
Sat Panth saachi vaat chhe
tame saachaa chaalo nirdhaar 1

O brother! Be concerned about the soul now, and perform pure deeds. Satpanth is the true path, walk on it truly and steadily.

Eji Tame dil baandho saachaa saanhi sun,
jennne sirjiyaa sarve sansaar;
man maari durijan dur karo,
to sare tamaaraa kaaj 2

O brother! Attach your hearts to the true Beloved, the one who created the entire world. Slaying your mind, shun the devil Satan, then all your tasks will be simplified.

Eji Durijan bhundho te sahu upar suro,
tene dil thi raakho dur;
panj-bhu maari jikar-e jaag-so
to sahi varse saaheb-jinu noor 3

O brother! The vulgar Satan has control over everyone, keep him away from your heart. Slaying the five evils, if you remain awake in remembrance (zikr), then the Light of the Imam will pour.

Eji Noor varse to dil paak rahe,
jo hove thir puro imaan;
jo imaan-sun chaalo ne aap gaalo,
bhaai saaheb-sun raakho dhiyaan 4

O brother! When the Light pours the heart remains pure, if faith is complete and firm. If you proceed faithfully and annihilate your mind (lower self), o brother, then retain your attention upon the Imam (his guidance).

Eji Dhiyaan lagaavo tame saaheb-sun,
have raakho aap-nnu aap;
tame prem pidaa ridheh dharo,
bhaai jampo ajampiyaa jaamp 5

O brother! Concentrate your attention upon the Imam and keep to yourself now. Arouse the pain (tears) of love in your hearts, o brother, repeat the unuttered name.

Eji Jaap japo ne dhir raakho,
ane abhimaan na aanno man;
jo kudd kapatt tame parharo
to paamsho Shaah nu darshan 6

O brother! Repeat the name and be patient (humble) and do not retain any pride in your mind. If you eliminate fraud and deceit, then you will attain the Vision of the Imam.

Eji Tame chaaho darshan Shaah nu,
to sir dharo utaar;
piyu piyu hardam kijiye
rati duniyaa-sun na raakhiye pyaar 7

O brother! If you crave for the Deedar of the Imam, then severe your head and submit it. Upon every breath perform Beloved Beloved. Do not retain the slightest love for the world.

Eji Duniyaa sansaar ek til chhe
ane jevo sapnutar jaann;
iyu kari dil sun dekhiyen
bhaai ek din marvun chhe nirvaann 8

O brother! The worldly existence is transcient, just as a dream. In this manner envision through the heart, for o brother one day you will have to die.

Eji Te marnne pahelaa tame mari ne chaalo
ane dharati gunn raakho aap;
Sat Gur vachane tame thir raho
to dil kaa jaave sarve paap 9

O brother! Before dying walk along as if you are dead (to the world), and retain earthly qualities within yourselves. Remain firm upon the commands of the True Guide, then all the sins of the heart will disappear.

Eji Bhanne Pir Imaam Shaah sunno munivaro
tame raakho piyu sun het;
piyu sun pattuntaro rati nav raakhiye
jem bhaadarve hariyaa het 10

O brother! Sayyed Imam Shah teaches: listen o believers, retain love for the Beloved. Do not treat anything else alike the Beloved (in your love), just as the fields are constantly refreshed lush green by rain.

O courageous brother! First of all control your own self, then advise others.

E viraa bhaai,
aap na vaare ne aur kun sambhalaave,
bhaai so moman kem kahie ji 2

O courageous brother! The person who does not control his/her own self and advises others, o brother, how can this one be called a momin?

E viraa bhaai,
moman te je man ne samjaave,
bhaai saaheb naam dhiaave ji 3

O courageous brother! A momin is the one who admonishes his/her heart, o brother, and remembers the name of the Imam.

E viraa bhaai,
nindhaa gibat je paarki kare,
bhaai dojak maanhe te jiv padde ji 4

O courageous brother! The one who engages him/herself in backbiting and gossiping about others, o brother, this soul will fall into hell.

E viraa bhaai,
nindhaa karse te narge jaase,
tame juo juo ilam maanhe ji 5

O courageous brother! The one who engages in backbiting will go to hell, see it over and over in wisdom and knowledge.

E viraa bhaai,
ilam kaa kaheaa koi na kare,
bhaai man bhaave soi kare ji 6

O courageous brother! The one who does not act according to knowledge and wisdom, o brother, he acts according to his hearts desires.

E viraa bhaai,
vaare vaare moman tamne vaarun,
tame cheti chaalo moman bhaai ji 7

O courageous brother! I restrain you repeatedly o momins, proceed carefully o momin brother.

E viraa bhaai,
bhannat Imaam din kahe
Pir Kabirdin,
bhaai karo karo aap kamaai ji 8

O courageous brother! Sayyed Imam shah teaches that Pir Hasan Kabirdeen has said: o brother, perform rewarding deeds for yourself.

Eji Darshan Shaah-kaa to paaien,
jo antar laage neh;
ghatt maa pragatt dekhiyee,
jab aap gamaaie deh. 1

O brother! The Vision of the Imam will be attained when love/devotion is ignited in the interior/heart. The Lord will be manifest in your body if you annihilate your own body (ego).

Eji Dehi jaalo aap gaalo,
ane dhiraj raakho man;
jikare fikare aaraadhiyen,
to chokhun thaay tan 2

O brother! Control your body and annihilate yourselves (your ego), and maintain patience in your heart (mind). Adore and obey through zikr (remembrance) and fikr (contemplation), then your bodies will be purified.

Eji Em dil chokun kijiyen,
to kaashal jaave dur;
astt pohor tunhi tunhi kijiyen
bhaai tab ja varse noor 3

O brother! In this manner purify your heart, then impurities will be rendered remote.

Eji Noor varse tiyaare prem upaje,
ane kudd kapatt hose sarve dur;
aa sat santoke nit rahe,
tis ghattmaa Shaah bharpur 4

O brother! Where the Light pours there love is ignited and all the evil entrappings will vanish. In this state if a person is truthful and content, his/her body is filled with the Imam's presence.

Eji Jiske ghattme Shaah vase,
te a-sat na bole lagaar;
jibhiyaa indhri vas karine
paanche kaal ne maar 5

O brother! In whose being the Imam resides, he/she never speaks lies. Controlling the sense of tongue, kill the five evils.

Eji Kaal krodh ne vaarjo,
abhimaan na dharjo man;
aa khamtaa manmaa raakhiye,
to dilddu thhaae paavan 6

O brother! Control your lust and anger and do not maintain pride in your hearts. If patience is preserved in the heart, then it will be purified.

Eji Dil pavitr kijiye,
ane jibhiyaae boliye saach;
hak hakikate chaaljo,
evi ginaane Satgur vaach 7

O brother! Make your heart holy and speak truth through your tongue. Proceed according to the truth and haqiqati understanding. In such Ginan (wisdom ) there is the advice of the True Guide.

Eji Amar dehi to rahe,
jo rakho piyun sun rang;
dharam kasottine agani sir saho,
rati duniyaa sun naa raakho ddhang 8

O brother! Your body will remain immortal if you maintain the colour(qualities) of the Beloved. Endure upon your head the trials and tests of religion, and do not have the slightest attachment to the world.

Eji Dhiaan dharam sun raakhiyen,
man nirmal kari janpie jaap;
dukh sukh manmaa nav aanniyen,
sudh raakhiye aapnnu aap 9

O brother! Maintain your thoughts upon religion, after purifying your heart remember the word/name. Do not foster thoughts of sorrow and happiness, and keep yourself pure.

Eji Bhanne Pir Imaamshaah sunno rikhisaro;
tame saache imaan-ne diyaavo;
ghatt maan chandrunna Gur name karo,
to darshan Shaah kaa paavo 10

O brother! Sayyed Imam Shah says to the believers: Obey with true faith. Illuminate your hearts through the name of the Guide, then you will attain the Deedar of the Imam.

O brother! Build the five dams (virtues) O believers. Why do you squander your capital?

Jire bhaai lobh laagaa sabh jug dubaa,
us vaatte kaany tame chaalo 3

O brother! Indulged in gread, the whole world is drowned. Why do you walk along that path?

Jire bhaai saachaa sukrit saathi teraa,
van beheddi kem hove paar 4

O brother! Your True good deeds will be your companion. Without the boat, how will you reach the other shore?

Jire bhaai beheddi vehunaa dubi dubi jaase,
bhar nindhraa kaany sovo 5

O brother! Without the boat (the right path), you will drown. Why are you fast asleep?

Jire bhaai ami maahaaras boleaa
Gur Sohodev,
saami raajaa aagal hose 6

O brother! Pir Sadardeen says this lofty and sweet (discourse full of wisdom). The Kingly Lord will be there ahead.

Eji Kuttam parivaar sajanaa,
me sab ku chhoddeaa re;
dhil baandheaa mere saanhi sun,

Siri nabi kahe saanhiaa,
ttuk dur mat jaaiore;
jab aavegi vednaa,
tab tum dekhan aaio 1

O beloved! I have foresaken all the family relationships and indeed foresaken everything. I have bound my heart to my Lord. I have bound my heart (mind) to You. O beloved of the honoured Prophet: do not stay away from me (even) a little while. When any harm or calamity befalls, come to look after me.

Suli upar saathro,
maanhe nindh na aavere;
paandde paandde piu ji,
maaro jiv khilaave re - siri 2

O beloved! My bedspread is (laid) upon thorns, I cannot sleep. My beloved! Cause my soul to bloom on each and every leaf.

Ham tam mili galeme,
ek baavari bhaio re;
Pir Hassan Shaah ki venti,
tam suniyo saanhiaare;
Siri nabike saanhiaa,
ttuk dur 3

O beloved!I have gone crazy (or lost my senses) upon meeting you. O Lord: Listen to the entreaty of Pir Hassan Shah.
