AAJ TE GURUNAR PARATAK BETTHAA

jeere bhaaire aaj te gurunar paratak betthaa
jugaa juge chhe avtaar jee..........................1

O living brothers, today the Guide and the Master ("Gurunar") is manifestly
seated (upon the throne). Indeed He has been the manifestation through ages.

jeere bhaaire guru rupe shaah shamsh dhareeyaa
shaah kaasamshaah naam bhannaayaajee................2

O living brothers, in the form of the Guide, Shah (Peer) Shamsh is apparent
and Shah Kaasam Shaah had taught him the (Divine) name.

jeere bhaaire te gurunaa thaanak mulastaane huaa
te shaah peer paratak paayaajee.....................3

O living brothers, the abode of this Guide was in Multaan and he attained
the "shaah peer" (the Imaam and the Guide) in a manifest manner.

jeere bhaaire surjaaraannee ne kamlaa ku(n)var
tenee cheennab nagaree jaannojee....................4

O living brothers, Queen Surja and Prince Kamlaa have their abode at
the city of Cheenab.

jeere bhaaire tenne elammaa(n)he shaah peer deetthaa
te saachaa moman kahevaay jee.......................5

O living brothers, they saw the Imaam and the Peer through the Divine
knowledge and wisdom. They are regarded as true momins.

jeere bhaaire be imaanee a(n)dhaa te paas-j raheve
tenne doy kareene jaanneeyaa jee....................6

O living brothers, the faithless and the blind ones used to live there.
Both are same. (Both are blind)

jeere bhaaire saachee sukareet jenee pahelee hove
te saachaa moman keelaavejee........................7
O living brothers, those who have good deeds as their first principle,
are indeed regarded as true momins.

jeere bhaaire moman te je kharaa daso(n)dee
gurne vaaeke chaalejee..............................8

O living brothers, a momin is the one who is perfect in his/her observance
of the tithe. He conducts himself according to the commands of the Guide.

jeere bhaaire shaah peer to te vakhate betthaa
murakh na jaanne a(n)dhaa jee.......................9

O living brothers, the "Shaah Peer" (the Imaam and the Peer) is seated at
that time (of prayer or at the time of following His command). The foolish
ones do not understand this and are blind in this regard.

jeere bhaaire murakh te je shaah peerne na jaanne
avar duneeyaasu(n) raache jee......................10

O living brothers, the foolish is the one does not know the "Shaah Peer"
(Imaam and the Peer). He is content in his relationship with others in the world.

jeere bhaaire shaah peer to jugaa jug aaveeyaa
kaheeyaa te ved veechaar jee.......................11

O living brothers, the "Shaah Peer" is present since ages and has
expounded the scriptures.

jeere bhaaire surjaaraannee saachee kahevaay
tenne shaah peer ne parmaanneeyaa jee..............12

O living brothers, the Queen Surjaa is regarded as a genuine one.
She recognised the "Shaah Peer" (in His essence).

jeere bhaaire tenne shaah peerne sahee karee jaanneeyaa
ved vaayke chaaleeyaa jee..........................13

O living brothers, she regarded the "Shaah Peer" as the Truth and
conducted herself according to the commands of the scriptures.

jeere bhaaire saaddee saat karoddnaa(n) bol-j deedhaa
kamlaa ku(n)var var paayaa jee.....................14

O living brothers, he gave the word (promise for the salvation ) for
seven and a half crores. Prince Kamlaa attained the responsiblity.

jeere bhaaire kahe sayyed imaamshaah tame vaayka maano
to sare tamaaraa kaaj jee..........................15

O living brothers, Sayyed Imaamshaah tells you to obey the commands,
then He will simplify your activities.

'Do not be led astray, o foolish folk, but take the secret into your hearts.

e to paakhann deval but,

'These temples and idols are a deceit, so why revolve in this circle?

tame sirevo sat-gur nur,

ke gur anavar dhannee re lol......................................4

'Worship the True Guide, the Light, for the Guide is the Glorious Lord.

tame daan daso(n)de rehejo pur,

ke to phal piraamaso re lol.......................................5

'If you regularly offer the tithe in full, you will be gainfully rewarded.

e to puraa rakheesar karase raaj,

je sat-pa(n)the chaalase re lol...................................6

'Those perfect believers will rule who proceed upon the True Path.

tame naa(n)cho din ne raat,

ke kaa(n)hee nahee(n) paamaso re lol..............................7

'You may dance by day and night, but nothing will be achieved.

e to paathar sarave but,

ke bole bhee nahee(n) re lol......................................8

'All these idols are of stone, and they do not speak at all.

tame bhulo te phokatt kaa(n)he,

je ghareeaa maanavee re lol.......................................9

'Why do you let yourself be led astray in vain, when these are man-made objects?

e to garabee juttho chhe dev,

ke bhavaanee chhe kiyaa(n) re lol................................10

'The deity of the dance is false, for where is Bhavanee found in it?

e to gur baramaa nee kallaa bhar-pur,

ke teeyaa(n) sarave rahe re lol..................................11

It is the Creator(Divine) Guide whose power is complete, for it is there that they all dwell.

tame jutthaa juo sab so(n)saar,

ke janam thee jaannajo re lol....................................12

'See how false all the worldly creatures are, whom you have known since birth.

tame maano 'alee avataar,

ke to phal paamaso re lol........................................13

'Accept Ali as the true manifestation, and you will gain your reward.

to paap piraachhat thaase dur,

ke padamee paamaso re lol........................................14

'Your sins and faults will be removed, and you will attain high station.'

em samajaaveaa chhe sat-gure saach,

ke toe nav jaanneaa re lol.......................................15

Thus did the True Guide explain the truth to them, but they did not recognise it.

te to sunneaa sarave lok,

ke valataa boleaa re lol.........................................16

All the people listened to him, then spoke in reply.

tame aavajo beejee raat,

to milee karee naachee-e re lol..................................17

'If you come tomorrow night, let us dance together.'

em boleaa gur samash peer,

ke chetee chaalajo re lol........................................18

Peer Shams the Guide spoke thus: 'Proceed in awareness, o!'

aad gur shamsh mun-naavar jaann, te to fareeyaa bahu jug pramaann.1

The Manifest Guide from the beginning is Shamsh, he is indeed
the one who has wandered through numerous ages!

te to gayaa analvadd maa(n)he
tyaa hee(n)du rahe chhe ateej aa(n)he.............................2

He went to Analvad, where Hindus reside in large numbers!

tenaa deval deraa aateej ghannaa
te to maataa bhavaanee ne maane tatakshannaa......................3

They have numerous temples of worship. They believe in mother
Bhavaani instantaneously!

te to garbee ramataa(n) nortaa(n) maa(n)he
gur shamsh gayaa chhe tyaa(n)y....................................4

They used to dance in nortaa (navraatree). The Guide Shamsh has gone there!

tyaa aaso shud ekmanee raat, te garbee pelee rame sahu saath......5

With the night filled with pure hopes and oneness of heart (mind), he
(the Guide) plays the first dance with all.

tyaaa(n) chhatrees pa(n)ddeet to kathaa kare
paa(n)chso ramteeyaa rame chhe khare..............................6

There thirty six scholars are engaged in religious discourse.
Five hundred players are dancing in a standing position (or truly).

gurjee ubhaa jaai tenne tthaam
sunnyaa vachan hee(n)dunaa(n) tamaam..............................7

The Guide went to their place and stood. He heard the entire
teachings (sayings) of the Hindus.

teto no naache bahu atee gaave geet
pat-thar saathe tene bahu preet...................................8

They dance the nine dances (or nights) a great deal, and sing
a lot of songs. They have great love for the stones (idols).

taare peer shamsh ne karodh-j thayaa
te to naachannhaar maa(n)he jai naachyaa..........................9

At that moment Peer Shamsh became extremely angry. He went
and joined the dancers and began to dance.

taare geet gaayaa gurjee geenaan
te sunnavaa laagyaa hee(n)du ajaann..............................10

Then the Guide sung the songs which contained the "gnaan"
(Divine knowledge and wisdom). The ignorant Hindus began to listen to them.

aad thakee ek soon nipaayaa
tare soon ma(n)thee shabda neepaayaa
jugesar jog kaa maram koi na jaanne
jog kaa maram jugesar jaanne...........................jogkaa.....1

In the beginning a void(nihilistic) was created, from it the word
(guarded tablet, prophetic light) was created.O true worshipper,
nobody understands the inner mysteries of faith except a true yogi
(saint, worshipper).

mu(n)dhraa paheree ne man vash naahee
narge jaasho nirvaann - jugesar........................jogkaa.....2

Wearing of ear rings only will not control your mind. You will certainly
go to hell with this practice.[This refers to the practice of putting on
ear rings by some yogis especially during the initial stages.]

naath anaath ame indhra imaamshaah
ame alakh purush ghar naa chelaa - jugesar.............jog kaa....3

I, Indhra Imaamshaah, am the master of all the masters(naath means
a great yogi - saint, master). We are the disciples of the house of the
incomprehensible person(Imaam of the time).

bhabhut chore ne paaye paddaave
pan seedh naa shabda na jaanne - jugesar...............jogkaa.....4
They apply ashes(over their bodies) and make people bow to them.
But they do not know the word of the Truth.

si(n)gi vagadde ne kaan faddaave
pan bhirmaa naa akhar na jaanne - jugesar..............jogkaa.....5

si(n)gi - a musical instrument made out of a cow/bull horn

They play music(and make unnecessary loud noise) on an
instrument but do not understand the (true) letter(akhar) of the Creator(brahmaa).

jattaa vadhaare ne jog na(ne) sadhe
pan mugat naa maram na jaanne - jugesar................jogkaa.....6

They maintain long hair(ostentatious expression of an ascetic) and do maintain the
True Path. But they do not understand the significance or essence of salvation.

jampudeep maa(n)he saami takhat rachaayaa
te shrest naa seerjanhaar - jugesar....................jog kaa....7

In the Indian Subcontinent('jampudeep'), the Lord has established the throne.
He is indeed the creator of the universes. Indian Subcontinent being the temporal
home of the composer can serve here as a metaphor for the eternal home(soul).

te gur jogi tamne odhaare
jene tarat tribhovan kidhaa - jugesar..................jogkaa.....8

O worshippers, this Guide (the Imaam) is the one who is going to redeem you.
He is the one who has created the three heavens instantaneously.

adsath teerath, parabat ne neer
tiyaa nahi niveddaa thaay - jugesar....................jogkaa.....9

Going through sixty eight pilgrimages involving crossing over numerous mountains
and rivers, is not going to give any solution to your (spiritual) crises.

em bhanne indhra imaamshaah tame soonno maaraa jogi
gur malle to se(n)sa tare - jugesar....................jogkaa....10

This has been taught by Sayyed Imaamshah. Listen o worshippers (yogis),
(only) when you meet the (true) Guide, will your doubts be cleared.

ejee ramataa ramataa prabhu paattann aaveaa,
puraa kaam keedhaa peere re

R: puree baram var ne pujo jee..................................1

As he roamed and wandered, the Lord came to Patan, where the Peer performed great work. R: Worship the Divine Lord, o!

ejee dharam aaleene peer pote padhaareaa,
dhaaraa nagaree maa(n)he dheeaan kevaaeaa re...puree baram......2

After spreading the faith, the Peer himself proceeded. In the city of Dhara he aroused much attention.

ejee sakal gunn pur thee peer pote padhaareaa,
aaveaa te van mi(n)jhaar re.....................................3

Perfect in all his qualities, the Peer himself proceeded, and entered the forest.

ejee van maa(n)he jaaee peere ramataj keedhee
kar pusatak leedhaa muraaree re.................................4

The Peer went into the forest and sauntered there. The Lord had a holy book in his hands.

ejee peer mukh vaannee naa ginaan sunneene,
van naa pa(n)khee sarave moeaa re...............................5

When the teachings that came from the words of the Peer's mouth were heard, the birds in the forest were all fascinated.

ejee pireme te peere van maa(n)he virehe vadhaareaa,
vaagh viru vege aaveaa re.......................................6

Through love for the Peer, with their passion enhanced in the forest, the tigers and wolves came in haste.

ejee raannee paalann de nu(n) varat chhe motto,
harann haathe raa(n)dhee chaakhe re.............................7

Queen Palan De had made a solemn vow, to eat only venison cooked by her hand.

ejee pireme paalann de nee purav nee pireete,
te purann pirem har su(n) raakhe re.............................8

Palan De's love for her Beloved was given from prior time. She had perfect love for God.

ejee shikaaree sodhe harann haath na laage,
eto kaarann sareekhu(n) koik deese re...........................9

Her hunters searched, but could catch no deer. There appeared to be some reason for this.

ejee van maa(n)he puras mone acharat deetthee,
sarave saavaj pa(n)khee naame sees re..........................10

In the forest her man Monu beheld a wonder in silence. All the wild beasts and birds were bowing their heads.

ejee mone shikaaree man maa(n)he vaat veechaaree,
aa puras paraakaramee koek puro re.............................11

Monu the hunter thought to himself: 'This person appears to be some being full of miraculous powers.

ejee nur sat-gur paaraadhee bolaaveeaa,
tame kaame su(n) aaveaa puraa re...............................12

Nur Satgur summoned the hunter.'Have you accomplished your task, then?'

ejee sees namaaveene shikaaree boleaa,
aa puras paraakaaramee koeek deese re..........................13

Bowing his head, the hunter said: 'This person is some being full of miraculous powers.

ejee raannee paalann tenu(n) birad chhe motto,
te ser shikaar aalo harannaa re................................14

'Queen Palan has made a solemn vow, and I need a seer of game.'

ejee nur sat-gure sau ne samajaaveaa,
ser shikaar aalo harannaa re...................................15

Nur Satgur explained this to all:'Give me a seer of game, o deer.'

ejee pa(n)khee saavaj ne saan kevee aavee chhe,
aa maas leeo re muraaree re....................................16

What enlightenment filled the birds and the beasts!'Take this flesh, o Lord.'

ejee jaa(n)g kaapeene aaleeo umede,
sat-gur ne mileaa sanamukh ttole re............................17

He cut its haunch and gave it in good faith. They met the True Guide face to face in joy.

ejee maa(n)s laeene monu turat sadhaareaa,
aaveaa te kaan gaddh ne parole re..............................18

Taking the flesh, Monu immediately departed, and came to the fortress on the borders of the forest.

ejee raannee paalann de daasee mokalaavee,
maas laee aavo daasee re.......................................19

Queen Palan De sent her maid. 'Fetch the meat, o maid!'

ejee maas raa(n)dheene raannee-e haathe su(n) chaakheeaa,
chaakha(n)taa nav na(n)d paameaa re............................20

The Queen cooked the meat and tasted it from her hand. As she tasted it, she experienced the nine delights.

eto kaarann treebhovar nu(n) saamee re.........................21

Queen Palan De's love increased. This was all due to the Lord of the three worlds.

The citadel(fort) is built very tall and very far on the high ground,
down below flows the sea, I am a fish in the sea, O my Master!,
come to save me.
I am uneasy without the glimpse of your face, O my Lover,
come to my home, O my Master come home.
I am your created being who has forgotten the means of your worship.
O my Lord, give me an awakening for the origin of my soul.

ejee agar cha(n)dan nee kottddee
sufal racheeyaa kamaadd
taaraa deedhaa chhe prem naa
saa(n)heeyaa kholann aav hure................................2

My small dwelling is filled with the pleasant smelling aloe wood
and sandlewood. The good deeds have made the door.
Love has locked them. O my Master come to open them.

koik bujat jan
mere tanakee vednaa
saa(n)heeyaa tapat bujaav hure...............................3

The worldly family has imprisoned me. Only the person who knows it,
can realise (my condition). The agony (agonising fire of separation)
of my body troubles me; O my Lord cool me down and soothe me.

ejee itnaa kop na keejeeye
saa(n)heeyaa dije didaar
peer hasan shaah nee vina(n)tee
saa(n)heeyaa taarann aav hure................................4

Do not be very angry, O Lord, please grant me your Holy glimpse (Vision).
Peer Hasaan Shaah requests, O Lord come to save me.

1. 0 brother believer! The false era of Kaljug has come, behold its strange happenings.

Eji Pir saathe murid laddegaa;
baap kun maaregaa betaa jire 2

2. 0 brother! The disciple will quarrel with the master (spiritual guide) and the son will hit the father.

Eji Maanhe maanhe doe bandhava laddeege;
avar jaanne do godhaa jire 3

3. 0 brotherl Two brothers will fight amongst themselves, others will think them to be two bulls.

Eji Maai betti doe laddese;
ek bijaane kahese sokaa jire 4

4. 0 brotherl mother and daughter will quarrel and will call each other co-wife (or second wife).

Eji Saasu utthine paanni bharese;
vavar besi khaannu khaave jire 5

5. 0 brother! The mother-in-law will get up and fill water, the daughter-in-law will sit and have her meal.

Eji Nauv varsni naari falese;
ne baar varasno pursh jire 6

6. O brother! A nine year old girl and a twelve year old boy will attain adulthood.

Eji Do varannaa kaljug maan megh maanddaaese;
gaayaa be vaachhaddaa jannse jire 7

7. 0 brother! Two kinds of clouds will hover in Kaljug. A cow will give birth to two calves.

Eji Paheli foj-kun paanni milese;
duji foj-kun gaaraa jire 8

8. 0 brother! The first army will get water, the second mud.

Eji Triji joje khe uddse;
chothi foje sital chhaayaa jire 9

9. 0 brother! Dust will fly among the third army and the fourth army will get a cool shade.

Eji Paanch-mi foje Ali purakh chaddse;
lese te khannang tradhaaro jire 10

10. o brother! Mawla Ali (a.s) will manifest from the fifth army and (he) will carry a three edged sword.

Eji Nauvso navaannu nadiun nir gattese;
traajve tolaaese paanni jire 11

11. 0 brother! The water of nine hundred and ninety nine rivers will decrease and water will be weighed in scales.

Eji Ganniyaa daannaa tiyaare an-naa vechaaese;
ane puddie badhaaese aattaa jire 12

12. O brotherl The grains will be sold by counting them and flour
will be packed in packets.

Eji Ginaan mahaaras Pir bhannae Sadardin;
e sarve saachun kari jaanno jire 13

13. 0 brotherl Pir Sadardin (r.a) says this ginan full of wisdom,
understand all these facts to be true.
