At 7:30 pm on September 21, 2016 at Koerner Hall in Toronto the inaugural Adrienne Clarkson Prize for Global Citizenship will be awarded at the marquee event of 6 Degrees — the new public initiative of the Institute for Canadian Citizenship.
The prize will be given annually to an individual who has, through thought and dialogue, encouraged approaches and strategies that strive to remove barriers, change attitudes, and reinforce the principles of tolerance and respect.

His Highness is also of course an honorary citizen of this country, a person whose many contributions and connections to Canadian life and society we extend with today’s ceremony.

St. Mike’s Pontifical Institute honours Muslim leader 2016-05-20
Posted May 25th, 2016 by librarian-hdMuslims and Christians came together May 20 to acknowledge their common history and ancient bonds as Toronto’s Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies awarded His Highness the Aga Khan with its highest degree.
In his role as chancellor of the prestigious graduate school, Cardinal Thomas Collins bestowed an honourary doctor of letters in Mediaeval Studies on the spiritual leader of the world’s 15 million Ismaili Muslims.
Collins praised the Aga Khan as a religious voice of reason, peace and humanity.

City council has confirmed its support for a property tax exemption for the Aga Khan Museum and Ismaili Centre, a museum of Islamic and Iranian art located in the Don Mills area.
The council voted 34-1 on Tuesday to recommend providing a property tax exemption for the museum.

AGA KHAN: The institutional hat, which is the hat I inherited from my grandfather.
SEVERSON: As a spiritual leader?
AGA KHAN: As the imam of the Ismaili community, by far.

Sharjah’s Barjeel Art Foundation will showcase work by Arab artists at Toronto’s Aga Khan Museum 2015-07-21
Posted July 21st, 2015 by librarian-hdSharjah’s Barjeel Art Foundation, built on more than 1,000 modern and contemporary Arab artworks from the private collection of its founder Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, will launch its first exhibition in North America on Saturday.
The venue is fitting. Home Ground: Contemporary Art from the Barjeel Art Foundation will open at Toronto’s renowned Aga Khan Museum, whose mission is to foster a greater appreciation of the contribution that Muslim civilisations have made to world heritage.

Pan Am flame lights up Aga Khan Park’s debut

The flame for the Pan Am games was a big attraction in the city Sunday, but first the people of Don Mills had a park to welcome.
Visitors to the first major public event at the beautiful Aga Khan Park had plenty to enjoy. The park, located between the Aga Khan Museum and the Ismaili Centre, has reflecting pools, green spaces and trees.
