Hazar Imam was conferred with  of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from the University of Wales by the Chancellor of the University.

On Tuesday, the 30th of November 1993, the University of Wales marked the one hundredth anniversary of its foundation in a grand Centenary Ceremony at St. David's Hall, Cardiff where Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, as Chancellor of the University of Wales, conferred upon Mawlana Hazar Imam the honourary degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) for Hazar Imam's patronage of education and academic research throughout the world.An honourary Doctor of Laws degree was also awarded to the President of Ireland, Mrs.

SILVER JUBILEE VISIT OF H. H. The Aga Khan - 1983-07-05

Over 15000 Ismailis gathered at Olympia on Tuesday July 5, 1983 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee. During the visit, Mowlana Hazar Imam had private meetings with institutions such as Oxfam, the Overseas Development Administrator and the University of London.

A CELEBRATION OF AKF - 1995-12-01

Prince Zahra graced with her presence the recent AKF (UK) Ball at London's Grosvenor House. Water for Life was the theme of the charity function, which attracted more than 900. The Zamana Gallery, a 550 square meter exhibition area located in the Ismaili Center, London, was officially opened on June 25th by the Rt. Hon. The Earl of Gowrie, Minister for the Arts, in the presence of Mowlana Hazar Imam.

Mawlana Hazar Imam and Mrs. Lynda Chalker, Minister for Overseas Development, on Thursday 16th May, 1991 signed an exchange of letters relating to the pledging of UK Pounds 4.7 million, by the British Government, to the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme in Chitral, Northern Pakistan. Mawlana Hazar Imam received an honourary degree of Doctor of Literature in Education on Wednesday, October 11, 1989, from the University of London, England.
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, Chancellor of the University, conferred the degree on Mawlana Hazar Imam during the Founders Day Convocation Ceremony in which he was cited as 'a calm voice in troubled times, a world leader, uniquely placed to bridge the cultural differences dividing east and west.'

It gives me great pleasure to be in Oxford this evening. I am most grateful and honoured that your Society should invite me to talk about the Ismaili Community and its contribution to the Commonwealth.

Speaking as a graduate of Harvard and, I have to confess, as one who failed in English at his entrance examination, I have been warned by my British friends that I should have to tread carefully in this most venerable seat of learning.

CENTURIES OF GOLD - 1986-07-02

Cromwell Gardens No.1, South Kensington, London SW7, is an address which every Ismaili recognises and is proud of, for that is the site of the Ismaili Centre London.
What is perhaps not known quite as well is that a large area of the ground and the lower ground floors of the Ismaili Centre is occupied by the ZAMANA GALLERY with its entrance directly opposite the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Agha Khan University's Centre of English Language Karachi has won British Council commendation World Aware Business Award 2002 in recognition of its services for promoting English language in back areas of Gilgit, Chitral and Tajikistan.This reward was received by Sabahat Khan Tartari, senior member of the Agha Khan university and Associate Prof Muhammad Zafar of Centre of English Language from a senior official of the British Council. Sabahat and Prof Zafar are currently doing their post-graduation from WarWick university in the United Kingdom.

Every now and then, a dollop of patience pays off, too.

On Saturday at Ascot, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond stakes turned into a battle between two guys with plenty of money and more than a little luck, leaving patience to tip the balance.

Alamshar, a 3-year-old colt, the result of 80 years of breeding by the Aga Khan's family, beat Sulamani, a 4-year-old colt that Sheik Mohammed al-Maktoum bought late last year.

Sadruddin Aga Khan, humanitarian
Born: January 1933, in Paris
Died: 12 May, 2003, in Boston, aged 70

PRINCE Sadruddin Aga Khan was a wealthy philanthropist who held a string of top UN humanitarian posts and was the uncle of the spiritual leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims.

He started his long career with the United Nations as an adviser to UNESCO on Afro-Asian projects. He was the youngest and longest-serving UN High Commissioner for Refugees, taking over the post in 1965 at the age of 33 and staying in the job for 12 years.
