Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageThe Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, the first in an international network of about 20 academic centres of excellence, was inaugurated on Tuesday by Kenya's President Mwai Kibaki in the presence of the Aga Khan.The Aga Khan Academies will feature a curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) and a system of international student and teacher exchanges between academies as well as with allied schools, including Phillips Academy, in the United States, and the Schule Schloss Salem, in Germany.

Aga Khan Leaves for France - RETHINK EDUCATION POLICY - 2003-12-22
Posted July 9th, 2009 by heritageHis Highness the Aga Khan, yesterday afternoon left Kenya for Paris, France, after a three-day visit where he met with President Mwai Kibaki in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Minister for Gender, Sports, Culture and Social Services, Mr Najib Balala and Mombasa DC, Mr John Egesa, escorted the visitor to the Moi International Airport.
Aga Khan who flew into Mombasa on Friday, attended the inauguration of the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, an educational institution along Mama Ngina Drive.

Aga Khan Backs Regional Union - RETHINK EDUCATION POLICY - 2003-12-22
Posted July 9th, 2009 by heritageTHE Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of Shia Ismaili Muslims and a prominent investor in the East African region, has backed the planned regional customs union. The Aga Khan, chairman of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), said the planned East African customs union would not only widen the market and growth potential but also 'refine and strengthen efficiencies' in the member countries. The Aga Khan said this at the opening of a US$7.2m Alltex apparel manufacturing plant in Kenya recently.
