Dalakhani has been named named the 2003 Cartier Racing Awards Horse of the Year. His owner, the Aga Khan, was to received the prize at the annual Cartier Awards dinner in London on Wednesday night.The brilliant winner of both the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Prix du Jockey-Club (French Derby), Dalakhani was also heralded as Cartier's champion 3-year-old colt by a 568-379 margin over Epsom Derby/King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes winner Alamshar in the complicated Cartier voting system.

The Aga Khan's brilliant three-year-old colt, Dalakhani, was named the Cartier Horse of The Year at the annual end-of-season Cartier Awards dinner held in London last night. The horse's list of honours already included the French Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe before he landed the most prestigious racing award in Europe.
His trophies, for Horse of The Year and Three-Year-Old Colt, were picked up by his trainer, Alain de Royer-Dupre and Princess Zahra Aga Khan, who is taking an increasingly-prominent role in her father's breeding empire.

The ceremony was held at London's Four Seasons Hotel. A 3-year-old Darshaan colt trained by Alain de Royer Dupre, Dalakhani won eight of nine career starts, including four group I races, before being retired at the conclusion of his 2003 campaign.
