Some of the 40 eminent guests lined up to grace the event include the Aga Khan, Nobel laureate Prof Wangari Maathai, former South Africa’s president Thabo Mbeki, telecom investor Mo Ibrahim, and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan. The conference key theme is Reflections on the past, present, and prospects for the future.

UN and Aga Khan in deal over Aids - 2003-10-03

In a deal between Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi Klaus Topfer and Mr Stephen Batts, the Aga Khan Health Service in East Africa chief executive, the employees will be advised on the use of anti-retroviral drugs and nutrition.They and their families will also will benefit from counselling services.

Six Bid for Disputed Nile Hotel - 2003-08-11
Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageUganda is going ahead with plans to privatise the Nile Hotel International Ltd (NHIL) despite a court battle between the government and Tunisia's Tahar Fourati.This is the second time the hotel is being concessioned by the Privatisation Unit. The hotel complex was in October 1994 partly sold to Tahar Fourati. A dispute ensued and Tahar Fourati lodged a case to have their money refunded.

Nairobi prepares to host top media event - 2003-03-06

It will be the 52nd Congress of the International Press Institute, a global network of editors, media executives and leading print and broadcasting journalists, and will be held over four days - June 1 to 4 - in Nairobi.
It will also be the third time for Nairobi to host the annual IPI event.
Speaking at the Congress's media launch yesterday, the IPI Kenya host committee announced it would be opened by President Mwai Kibaki.
