Kibaki walks with the Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims, at State House, Nairobi, where the two held discussions yesterday morning. The talks were attended by Foreign Affairs minister Kalonzo Musyoka, Permanent Secretary Peter ole Nkuraiya and Chief of Protocol George Owuor.
President Mwai Kibaki and the Aga Khan held lengthy discussions yesterday morning at State House, Nairobi. The talks were attended by Foreign Affairs minister Kalonzo Musyoka, Permanent Secretary Peter ole Nkuraiya and Chief of Protocol George Owuor. The spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims, who arrived on Sunday, is scheduled to visit projects sponsored by the Aga Khan Development Network. The organisation has been active in the country for several decades in education, health and rural development. The organisation has investments of US$40 million in the health sector and US$30 million in the education sector. The Aga Khan Education Services operates 15 schools in the country while the Aga Khan Health Services runs three major hospitals in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa. The Aga Khan University has also begun offering advanced nursing studies programme. - PPS
