President Sadyr Japarov receives Prince Rahim Aga Khan 2024-02-29
AKIPRESS.COM - President Sadyr Japarov today received Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the eldest son of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan and member of the Board of the Aga Khan Development Network, president's press service reported.
During this meeting, views were exchanged about cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Aga Khan Development Network in the field of education, ecology and green economy.
President Japarov expressed gratitude for a considerable contribution of Prince Aga Khan IV into development of cooperation between two countries and assistance provided for improvement of vulnerable communities in mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan. The President also thanked for suport of ethnic Kyrgyz living in the Big and Little Pamir in Afghanistan.
Sadyr Japarov took a note of activities of the University of Central Asia in Naryn, which plays a key role in providing quality education to young people in Kyrgyzstan, other Central Asian states and Afghanistan.
The President highlighted importance of cooperation in the field of ecology, especially amid climate change, development of geen and creative economy and invited AKDN to joint the efforts on fight against adverse effects of climate change and development of mountainous regions.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan in turn thanked Sadyr Japarov for a warm welcome, noting joint successes achieved since inception of activities of AKDN in Kyrgyzstan in 2001. Prince Rahim Aga Khan underscored importance of deepening of cooperation and development of institutes that meet national priorities of Kyrgyzstan. He also expressed readiness in assisting this process.
Rahim Aga Khan also noted accomplishments of Kyrgyzstan in economy and foreign policy. He expressed recognition of the foresight of the government of Kyrgyzstan in matters of climate change and environment.
The parties expressed confidence in further productive cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Aga Khan Development Network and achievement of common goals of improvement of living standards of citizens and development of the country.
