Posted March 24th, 2010 by heritageThis is a pivotal time for Canada's foreign-aid program. Though polls show that most Canadians take pride in Canada's assistance to developing countries, and believe it should continue, the recession has caused some to argue that we should vastly reduce our commitment. In response, more than 70 Canadian voluntary organizations, including the one I work for, have mounted a campaign this week to highlight the achievements made possible with Canadian help.
There remains, however, a critical gap in the debate. We need to start talking about how foreign aid helps us.
