TRIPPING the night fantastic: Maestro Lester Lanin and his orchestra will be on the bandstand at River Oaks Country Club Monday night when the Houston Youth Symphony & Ballet hosts a dinner and dance honoring Houston Chronicle publisher Dick Johnson and wife Belle as its Cultural Leaders of the Year. Lanin, by the way, played at the * wedding party of Princess Yasmin Aga Khan and her groom, Christopher Jeffries, a couple of weeks ago at The Plaza in NY. The British Royals love Lanin, too, and he played for the wedding galas of Prince Charles and Di and Prince Andrew and Fergie.

Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Pakistan from Saturday, March 11 to Tuesday, March 21. He arrived in Islamabad on March 11 where he had meetings with his Excellency President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Her Excellency Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, as well as with other government ministers.
Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Hyderabad for three days from March 12 where he inaugurated a major new maternity home managed by the Aga Khan Health Services. He also performed the foundation ceremony for a girls' hostel and met with members of the Jamat.
