Coast Week - Kenya - The Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Ismaili community worldwide, arrived in Mombasa on Thursday for a two-day private visit. The private jet carrying him touched down at the Moi International Airport at 1.08 pm. He was welcomed by the chairman of the Aga Khan Council in Mombasa, Mr Alnoor Jiwan, Mombasa Mayor Taih A. Posted July 9th, 2009 by heritagePresident Mwai Kibaki has received His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismaili Muslims, at State House, Nairobi.The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions covering the implementation of previously articulated and new expansion plans for the agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Kenya specifically and Eastern Africa and the Indian Ocean region generally.
These include investments of US$ 40 million in the health sector and US$ 30 million in the education sector.

Aga Khan visits sites of proposed campuses - 2003-02-21

He said the centres, which would be international and indigenous, would help mould the youth into leaders of tomorrow.
