EURO 71 MILLIONS FOR PAKISTAN OKAYED - 2003-01-15

ISLAMABAD - The European Commission (EC) has approved euro 71 million for Pakistan to develop a three-year National Indicative Programme (NIP) in the education sector. In the Northern Areas, an education project with the Aga Khan Foundation worth euro 20 million, is part of the NIP strategy to help increase the number of education centres and qualified women available in developmental activities.

The European Union has decided to co-finance three projects, for more than €7 million, to alleviate the socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on communities in Pakistan.

The initiative also aims to increase the voice of the youth as well as providing support to Pakistan's civil society.

The announcement followed the signing of three contracts by Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of the European Union to Pakistan, and representatives of the main implementing partners: Agha Khan Foundation, Norwegian Church Aid, and Deutsche Welthungerhilfe.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2019 ) :National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) Wednesday signed Grant Implementation Agreement of Rs 834.606 million with a Joint Venture of Agha Khan Foundation (AKF) Pakistan and Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS).

The agreement had been made by NDRMF for providing grant financing up to Rs 579.621 million for the project titled "Promoting Integrated Mountain Safety in Northern Pakistan (PIMSNP)", a press release said.

Prior to its approval by the EC, which is the executive arm of the European Union (EU), the NIP was endorsed by the Government of Pakistan and the EU member states.
