The glory of Qutub Shahi tombs being restored by AKTC
Posted March 15th, 2021 by librarian-hdHyderabad: A visitor to the historic Qutub Shahi Tombs will be mesmerized by its architectural beauty. The colourful enameled tiles were used in decorating the tombs.
Quli Qutub Shah bears intricate carvings. The enameled tiling of the tomb made it unique from the other tombs.
The Aga Khan Trust for culture CEO Ratish Nanda said, “Qutub Shahi Tombs are fine examples of Indo-Iranian architecture.”

Restoration of 150-year-old Paigah Tombs begins; focus is also on making landscape attractive
Posted July 8th, 2019 by librarian-hdHyderabad: Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) which is working on the restoration of Qutb Shahi Tombs has now taken up the renovation of Paigah Tombs, also known as the Taj Mahal of the Deccan.
The nearly 150-year-old necropolis is located near Santosh Nagar.
Paigah Nawabs were next only to the Nizams in military, political and economic power who ruled Hyderabad State from 1724 to 1948.
Though Paigah Tombs are part of the historical and architectural heritage of Hyderabad they have been lying in a state of neglect for several decades.

Rs 70-lakh US grant for conservation of tombs in Hyderabad 2019-02-22

HYDERABAD: The US Ambassador to India Kenneth I Juster, who was in the city on Thursday, announced a grant of over Rs 70 lakh towards conservation of the 17th-century tombs of Taramati and Premamati, located within the Qutb Shahi tombs complex.
It is the second time that the US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) grant, a US Department of State initiative, is being awarded to the Qutb Shahi tombs.

Delhi High Courtt asks Aga Khan Foundation to beautify Amir Khusro Park
Posted January 17th, 2018 by librarian-hdNew Delhi, Jan 17 The Delhi High Court today asked Aga Khan Foundation to develop and carry out landscaping at the historic Amir Khusro Park in south Delhi, from where the authorities have recently removed illegal encroachers.
The court also turned down the submission of the Delhi Waqf Board counsel opposing the idea of allowing the foundation to beautify the park, claiming that the land belonged to the board which can take care of its property.

Subz Burj: Oldest double-domed monument in the heart of city set to be renovated

The Sabz Burj has suffered abuse due to its location — there is pollution, traffic and accompanying vibrations,” said Nanda. Surrounded by the cacophony of screeching honks from cars, the sprawling lawns of the 16th Century tomb play host to mostly pigeons. “This project is significant because the monument is in the middle of the city, at a busy intersection… people will see the restoration work, it won’t be hidden,” said Nanda.

Visible for miles around, Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah’s tomb is one the grandest monuments in the tombs complex at the foothill of Golconda. Built during his lifetime in the early part of seventeenth century, the tomb being restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, now radiates grandeur in its off-white colour amidst the dark and dappled grey monuments in the area.

U.S. funds excavation of 16th century India tombs 2015-08-08
Posted August 10th, 2015 by librarian-hdHyderabad, India -- The old Qutb Shahi Tombs in India's southern Hyderabad city are getting a new life as they are being restored under a project sponsored by the United States.
The 400-year-old tombs have got grant of over USD100, 000 for the excavation work.
The United States, in collaboration with Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) - world's leading conservation body, are undertaking restoration and conservation project of the royal necropolis, said deputy chief of mission, U.S. embassy, Michael Pelletier.

Jagmohan visits Taj, but skips heritage corridor - INDIAN TREASURE RESTORED - 2003-06-21
Posted July 9th, 2009 by heritageUnion tourism and culture minister Jagmohan spent almost the whole of Sunday touring Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal to get a first-hand feel for problems relating to their upkeep, but he skipped visiting the work site of the controversial heritage corridor project linking the two. The minister had similarly gone on an inspection trip of Delhi's Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar some weeks ago. During the visit, he announced an additional Rs 1-crore grant for the upkeep of the Taj Mahal.
