adab sheekhaa-o apane ahel or ayaal,
to nafaa sahee bakshaa apane baal gopaal;
adab sheekhaayaa jeene apane put or dhee-aa,
to sahee bahot nafaa le unaku(n) dee-aa..........................14

Teach your progeny and your brothers and sisters good behaviour. If you do so, you will have bestowed real benefits upon your children and society. Parents who have taught their sons and daughters good behaviour have indeed given best inheritance to their generation.

adab maradakaa so bhalaa hae jaano,
be adabke sonethee, adab bhalaa hae peechhaano;
adabse, jeene keeyaa, par deel khushhaal,
e bhalaa hae usathee, jo be adabeese deve maal...................15

Well behaved persons are always admired. It is better to associate oneself with well behaved people than with those who have a treasure of gold and who are misbehaved. Well behaved people bring happiness to the hearts of others far more than the happiness derived from the goods given by the misbehaved.

maradakaa gharennaa adab hae, jeeyu(n) oratku(n) sonaa rupaa shannagaar;
e sun kar manmaa(n)he raakho, farmaayaa saahebe zhulfikaar;
adab chalee-e adab baetthee-e, adabsethee karee-e kaar;
je koee dekhe je koee sune, so tumasethee hove khushhaal.........16

Good behaviour decorates a real person, just as jewellery of gold and silver decorates a woman. Having heard these advices, keep them in your minds, as commanded by Hazarat Aly. Proceed in a well behaved manner, while seated be well behaved, and be well behaved in all walks of life, so that anyone who sees you or hears about you becomes happy.

sonaa ddhu(n)ddhannase hae e bhalaa, jo aap kaaje ddhu(n)ddhe adab,
ke sonaa to duneeyaa maa(n)he rahesee, adab meelaa-esee apanaa rab;
adab ye jo aapaku(n) ba(n)daa jaane, seerjanhaarkaa hardam japee-e jaap;
esee chalannee jo koee chalyaa, une paayaa seerjanhaar aap.......17

It is better to seek good behaviour for your sake, than to seek gold. Gold will remain in this world, whereas through good behaviour you will attain your Lord. The meaning of good behaviour is to consider oneself as a humble creature and to remember the word of the Creator every moment. If one proceeds in such a manner, he or she indeed attains the Creator Himself.

adab maratabaa bahot baddaa hae, jaysaa adab taysaa naseeb,
be adabku(n) koee nahi chaahaave, baa adab rahe sabake kareeb;
khalakatme(n) aap khaalak hae, aysaa samaj karee-e adab,
be adab nahee rabaku(n) paave, baa-adabne peechhaanaa rab........18

The status of good behaviour is very exalted, your luck depends upon the state of your good behaviour. Nobody likes a person with bad behaviour, but a well behaved person is close to everyone. In the creation you are the creator(of your circumstances), having this understanding, perform good behaviour. A misbehaved person does not attain the Lord, whereas a well behaved person has recognised the Lord.

bhaaee vae teraa jaanno, jo kuchh tuje deve maal;
nahee bhaaee vae hae teraa, jo hove tere baapkee aal;
duneeyaame(n) dost vahee jaannee-e, jo kare maalkee madad;
duniyaakee madad maal hae, aap amal chhoddaaesee adab.............9

Consider anyone who offers you assistance as your brother. But if one does not care to help you, he is not your brother even if he may be the progeny of your father. Know a friend in this world as the one who gives assistance of means. Worldly assistance is that of means whereas discipline and your good actions will free you.

bhaaee vae teraa jo sakhteeme(n), rahe tuj sa(n)g sa(n)gaat;
nahee bhaaee vae teraa, jo hove teraa ham jaat;
bhaaee vae teraa, jo katthan velaa aave tuj kaam;
nahee bhaaee vae teraa, jo maabaap jaayaa dharyaa bhaaee naam....10

A brother is the one who is with you during trials and tribulations. If he is not with you, he is not your brother though he be of the same family. A brother is the one who is useful to you during difficult times. If one is not useful to you, then he is not your brother even if he may have the same parents as yours.

bhaaee vae teraa jo tujaku(n) chaahaave, or bataave nek kaam;
nahee bhaaee vae jo nasal baapkee, or dubaave teraa naam;
to bhaaee soee jaame(n) bhaav esaa rahe, jo kare hakakee raahanumaaee;
jo duneeyaa laalach khudaa bhulaa de, so hae dushman vo nahee bhaaee..................................11

A brother is the one who truly loves you and shows you the righteous ways. But if one is the son of your father and leads you towards humiliation by guiding you to wrong actions, then he is not your brother. Anyone who teaches truth and leads you to God, truly loves you and indeed is your true brother. The one who directs you towards worldly temptations and therefore makes you forget God, is your enemy and not your brother.

bhaaee teraa vahee jaanno, jo hardam kare nek naseehat;
bure kaamse sadaa bachaave, jees buraaeese hove fajeehat;
to duneeyaa mahobat sadaa buree hae, ehee fajeehat or gumaraahee;
mahobat moulaakee raah seedhee hae, jo bataave so saachaa bhaaee.12

Know your brother to be the one who preaches about purity always and protects you from evil actions which lead to disaster. Love for the world is always evil which is indeed humiliating and disastrous. Love for HazarImam is the True Path and the one who shows you this path is indeed your true brother.

ees jamaaneke bhaaee ayse, jo bhaaeeyukaa ayab ddhu(n)ddhanahaare;
ayab dekha rushawaa kare, or sunaave lok saar;
bhaaeeyu(n)kaa ayb ddhu(n)ddhe bhaaee, aysee velaa jaano;
to parlok ayb ddhu(n)ddhe, so acharat nahee maano................13

In these times there will be such brothers who will be in pursuit of their own brothers' faults and shortcomings. And by exposing such faults to others completely, they scandalize the person. Such are the times when brothers seek faults of their own brothers. Then do not consider it unusual for a stranger seeking your faults.

suno bhaaee momeeno, mowlaa ke kalaam kaa bayaan;
kaheyaa hae ke imaan marad kaa, so tu(n) sukhan su(n) pehechhaan;
jo sukhan meene(n) hae saachaa, so hae saachaa imaanee;
imaan ke saach kee, hae sukhan neeshaanee.........................2

Listen, o brother believers, to the account of the teaching of the Lord Ali, who has said that you should recognize a man's faith by his word, for he who is truthful in word has true faith. One's word is the token of the truth of one's faith.

saach se(n) hae marad kaa chhottakaa, bhaaee saachee vaa(n)chaa raakho mukh;
jutth bole so bohot dukh paave, saach bole kabhee na paave dukh;
saachaa bolo saachaa chaalo, ke momeen kaa hae saachaa deen;
e pharamaayaa shaah-e oleeaa, aap man raakho saachaa yakeen.......3

Through the truth comes the salvation of man, so keep true words upon your lips, o brother. He who utters lies suffers great pain, but he who speaks the truth never suffers pain. Speak the truth and proceed in truth, for truth is the religion of a believer. It has been laid down by the Lord of the Saints that you should bear true faith in your heart.

saachee dosatee us kee jaanno, jo kol meene(n) hae saachaa; saachaa mee(n)tar soee jaanno,
jo mee(n)tar se(n) saachee raakhe vaa(n)chaa;
pireet karee-e(n) saache su(n), jo bole so nibhaave;
to saache saaheb beheshat denne keeaa, pann pireet kare so paave..4

Realize true friendship is that formed with him who is true to his word. Know him to be a true friend who keeps true promises with his friend. Give your love to a truthful person, who faithfully does what he says. The Lord bestows paradise upon the truthful, but those who love Him find it.

chalannee chalee-e(n) gunaah na karee-e(n), imaan raakho saachaa;
utam chalannee ehee jaanno, jo saachee raakho vaachaa;
chalannee chalee-e(n) odham karee-e(n), so beechaareene karanaa;
ke gunaah na hove jis me(n) rab kaa, rab se(n) to sahee daranaa...5

Proceed upon the proper path, do not commit sin, and keep true faith. Realize that the best way of action is to keep true promises. Proceed upon the proper path and strive hard, reflecting before you act, so that there may be no sin in it against God, who is truly to be feared.

jo koi saache pa(n)th chaale, sab koi us ke pa(n)th me(n) aave; saache pa(n)th kee ehee neeshaanee,
jo saachaa pa(n)th sab ke man bhaave; allaah ek jaano sirajan-haar, mohammad jaanno allaah kaa nabee;
nabee jee ke peechhe saaheb khilaaphat,
sach kar maano murtazaa 'alee...........................6

All come to follow the path of whoever proceeds along the True Path. The token of the True Path is that the True Path is pleasing to everyone. Know that Allah is the One Creator, and know that Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah. After the Prophet, as Lord of his Caliphate, truly believe in Ali the Chosen.

saachaa nabee hae dosat khudaa kaa, or saachaa to hae khudaava(n)d aap;
saachaa bolan-haar ku(n) panaah khudaa kee, us ku(n) kuchh na poho(n)che sa(n)taap;
saachaa kilaave dosat khudaa kaa, saache par sadaa hae rahemat rab kee;
saachaa khudaa ku(n) haazar bujhe, ke khudaa hae dil me(n) khalakat sab kee.................7

The Prophet is the true friend of God, and God Himself is indeed True. He who speaks the truth finds refuge with God, and no harm comes to him. The friend of God is known by truth: God's mercy is ever given to the true. The true know God as ever present, for God is at the heart of all creation.

taazagee momeene kee saach se(n) thee hae, e kalaam tu(n) sahee sach kar maan;
saach so eemaan saachaa jaanno, or saach so taazagee neeshaan;
allaah ek mohammad nabee, mowlaa 'alee hae nabee jee ke tthaam;
es reet imaan layaao, karo kabul, e hae hukam kalaam..............8

The vital force of a believer comes from truth: this is the Teaching which you should truly realise. Know that true faith is truth, and truth is the token of vital force. God is one, Muhammad is His Prophet, and the Lord Ali is in the Prophet's place. In this fashion apply your faith, and accept it, for such is the commandment of the Teaching.
