FAQ

How do I submit a Ginan Recording?

in

- please send your full name and any other info you want to attach to these ginans.
- Save the ginans in mp3 format with frequency of either 11khz, 22khz or 44khz. Other formats are not guaranteed to work.
- Each file should be smaller than 5MB

Now you have 2 ways of sending these to us:
- Upload them yourself using a temporary account, filling out a form with info about each ginan
- email them to us and adding info about the ginan in the email.

If you want to upload them yourself, let us know, and we will create a temporary account for you.

Read and Listen to Ginans at the same time

Q: Could you create a link to play the gin an without opening a separate pop up page so that we can see the lyrics whilst listening to the ginan?

A: This is possible in the new heritage site:

- choose a ginan here:

- click on the text link in the right side column

- scroll to the bottom of the lyrics and click play,

How do I send you a Book for the Libbrary section?

The book will be uploaded to our book section like this:
http://www.ismaili.net/heritage/node/19741

To make it in this format, we need to add each chapter as a plain html page that uses only the following html codes:

We can separately attach the pdf to each chapter's title page too.

How can I upload Jamatkhana Piuctures?

Please Make sure the file names contain all the info about the jamatkhana.

Zip them, and if the resulting file is not too big, email them to heritage@ismaili.net, and if it is a big file, use a service like yousendit.com.

Can I add my Art to your Album section?

Sure,

Please give each image file a detailed name, ex: Art-Firstname-Lastname-image001.jpg

Place all your images in a zip file and send us the link to your zip file.

We will place the images in the Art Album.

Please email us to let us know what caption you want to put on your album and on each image.

Audio Button: Where is it?

Many users could not get the audio to play completely using the play buttons. Audio would cut-off.

The audio play buttons that were usually in the right-hand-side margin of texts such as ginans, geets, news events, Persons, etc.. Have been moved to below the main text of those pages, and replaced by an Audio play bar which takes more space, but is more reliable.

To list and Search the text of Geets by title or by Content, go to:
-> The Library tab at the top of the page
-> The Devotional Literature Section
-> Select Type=Geet and click "submit"

How do I record audio to submit to you?

There are many ways - here is one suggestion:

- To get the software go to http://www.goldwave.com/release.php
- From download links, download one of the versions of goldwave and install.
- From optional download section, get the lame mp3 encoder and Copy the lame_enc.dll file into the folder where GoldWave is installed
- Start goldwave, click on new, select the CD quality preset, and 00:05:00 for the duration.
- To record, press the red circle, to stop, press the square.
- Make sure your recording does not look too loud or too soft, the amplitude should stay around 0.6.

How to change items in the Virtual Jamatkhana?

To change ginans, tasbihs, waez, etc in the Virtual Jamatkhana just reload the virtual jk page or press F5 inside the virtual JK.

Where is the GINAN SECTION?

On the occasion of Imamat Day 2009, the FIELD Library's Sacred Literature section has been expanded with Ginan Translations and Articles about Ginans. All information is fully searchable.
