AGA KHAN FOR CIVIL SOCIETY SUPPORT IN CENTRAL ASIA - 2003-05-08
The Times of Central Asia: Prince Karim Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, on Wednesday called on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other international financial institutions to 'look in depth at the problems that should be addressed in supporting non-commercial civil society institutions.'

Posted February 25th, 2010 by heritageTHE Aga Khan, the spiritual leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, has said it is crucial to improve the economic status of professionals to cushion them from undesirable pressures including corruption.He said professionals like journalists, teachers and nurses are critical to the stable growth of countries and to democracy but are systematically under-resourced.
He said the economic status of professionals has to be corrected for better results.
