I want to begin by saying, quite simply, how delighted we are to be in China. China is a nation we constantly read about and discuss. But for most of us, myself included, it is the first time we have actually seen and visited this fascinating country.

Graduates Urged to Find Values in Encounters
(Following is the text of the Commencement Address presented by His Highness the Aga Khan at MIT's graduation exercises on Friday, May 27.)

From February 14 to 18 1976, His Royal Highness the Aga Khan, Begum Salimah Aga Khan and Prince Amyn Mohammed visited Nairobi to attend the opening ceremony of the Nairobi Serena Hotel by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

Forty ninth Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, Karim Aga Khan, at 59 years of age, is the spiritual leader of 20 million faithful. His religious mission ties-in with [H]is humanitarian concerns.

For the Jamaths of Kenya who had been preparing for months in advance, this mulakat was special. They were jubilant, for this was to the first time that Mowlana Hazar Imam and Begum Saheba were coming to Kenya accompanied by the Noorani children, Princess Zahra, Prince Rahim and Prince Hussein.

For the editors of the Ismaili magazines, the occasion was unique.

For an Ismaili murid of the Imam, the happiness and joy in beholding the face of Imam-e-Zaman is something which can only be felt and not described.

December 10th, 1988, saw the foundation ceremony of the proposed NATION CENTRE by Mawlana Hazar Imam, a function which was attended by a host of senior Government officials and invited guests.

After one last, critical look at their immaculate cadet uniforms, Ismaili Moslem students carefully spread a red carpet outside the front door of Overlea Secondary School.And then they formed themselves into an honour guard. Excitement was running high.
