Ottawa, Canada, 6 June 2005: His Highness the Aga Khan initiates the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, in the presence of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada. The Delegation will serve a representational role for the Imamat and its non-denominational, philanthropic and development agencies, which constitute the AKDN. His Highness is also invested as honorary Companion of the Order of Canada.

Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, 22 September 2006: Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and His Highness the Aga Khan lay the foundation stone of the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad. The Academy will be part of an integrated network of schools located in Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East offering girls and boys an international standard of education from pre-primary to upper secondary levels with a rigorous academic and leadership experience. The exceptional site allocated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh reflects the Government's support for the catalytic effect the Academy is expected to have in the state and in the country.

Kampala, Uganda, November 10, 2006: President Yoweri Museveni and His Highness the Aga Khan inaugurated the new Kampala Serena Hotel on 10 November 2006, which is owned and operated by Tourism Promotion Services (TPS), an arm of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED). One of 17 Serena properties in Africa -- others are in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Mozambique -- the Kampala Serena will have a significant economic, social and cultural impact in Uganda.

Dhaka, Bangladesh - 20 May 2008: On a state visit to Bangladesh, His Highness the Aga Khan laid a foundation stone for Bangladesh’s first Aga Khan Academy. The Academy in Dhaka will eventually be part of a network of 18 centres of educational excellence in a total of 14 countries across Africa, Central and South Asia and the Middle East. The schools will use the International Baccalaureate curriculum and admit students on the basis of their academic potential rather than their ability to pay
