FTP to ismaili.net user heritage path: /home/heritage/web/drupal5/imageuploads Image folder names inside imageuploads will become album names inside the 2008 album, so please start them with the date: "yyyy-mm title" or "yyyy-mm-dd place" (spaces are allowed) ex: "2008-07 London" **DO NOT make a timeline/2008 folder Try to make the image names significant (yyyy-mm-dd-place-title) so that you can avoid making too many subfolders (hard to navigate) Filename limit is long, so go ahead and write full words or short sentences. Use dash- instead of underscores_ for readability. Now, go to the image gallery 2008 album: http://www.ismaili.net/heritage/node/14240 - From the left menu, select "mass import" - Fill out the "Categories" section - If the news event exists, enter it in "event_link" by starting to type the date and finding the event in the dropdown - Go to "Import local files", and for the path, enter "imageuploads" and click "import" Now, all folders under the imageuploads will become albums under 2008, and all images will get transferred according to the structure in imageuploads BEWARE: Images do not get deleted automatically from Imageuploads, so it is up to you to delete images from that folder once you are finished importing, otherwise your next import will make duplicates.

A. Image Naming Before uploading, your images must have appropriate names in the format: "YYYY-MM-DD - Title - ###" Each image name must be detailed to avoid duplicate names. Start with a date if you know the date, even if it's only the year. So, here's how you improve image namiing: ex: 20080825.jpg -> 2008-08-25 - Canada-Vancouver-001.jpg Or if you have limited info: ex: image005.jpg -> 2005-image005.jpg ex : ali.jpg -> HazratAliSword001.jpg ex: 754.jpg -> 2005-10-13-754.jpg B. Choosing your album Now you must choose which album your picture will go into. Go to http://ismaili.net/heritage/acidfree-albums and click on the appropriate album (News-2008, People, Place, Map, Art, etc..) If you have more than 5 images of the same subject, you will need to create a sub-album (the option exists in the left menu. Name your subalbums "yyyy-mm title" and select the box that says "allow others to upload to this album") C. Uploading Images From inside the appropriate album, you will see an area in the left menu named “Image & Video Admin Quick Links” choose either “Add an image” or “Mass import” If you want to upload one image, click “Add an Image” - enter the title – click “browse” to find your image, see in the Acidfree dropdown menu that the right album is selected - enter the country, city, and a few words in “general subjects” (separate subjects with a comma) – Ignore the rest of the form – scroll down and “Submit”. If you want to upload more than one image into the album, then “mass import” lets you upload 5 images or zip files at a time. You enter the same information as above, and the image title is automatically taken from the image name. If you have created a news item or news event, then you can enter the news event name in the "event" field and the image will automatically appear on the news page too. (Just start typing the date and the existing news events will appear in the dropdown for you to select) D. Finishing touches Navigate the pictures you created in the album section and click on each to edit its caption or other info.
