Pakistan (AKAH) project wins award for shielding villages from natural disasters 2020-12-06
Posted December 8th, 2020 by librarian-hdA project that combines satellite images, mapping technologies and the local knowledge of villagers to help build climate-proof settlements in disaster-prone areas of Pakistan won an international award last week.
More than one million people have benefited from the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) Pakistan project, which was a gold prize winner at the World Habitat Awards that are organised with the United Nations housing agency, UN-Habitat.

Posted July 8th, 2019 by librarian-hdEstablished in 2017 the AKAH includes the legacy programs and initiatives of the Aga Khan Planning and Building Services (AKPBS) including Water Sanitation Extension Program (WASEP), FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance, the Disaster Risk Management Initiative (DRMI), the Portfolio Management Office (PMO), and the Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan Fund for the Environment (PSAKFE). It also includes the habitat related activities of Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP) and the Mountain Societies’ Development Support Program (MSDSP). The latter is operating in Tajikistan’s Gorno Badakhshan Oblast.

First training for Tajik and Afghan female rescuers starts in Dushanbe under support of the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH)
