I would like to begin by telling you how immensely happy I am to be back in Tanzania and to be able to say to My Jamati leaders here and elsewhere that, Inshallah, in the months ahead, the years ahead, I will be able to visit the Jamat more often than I have in the past.

Tanzania Health Minister Ummy hails Aga Khan Hospital expansion 2016-08-23
Posted August 24th, 2016 by librarian-hdTANZANIA will save 25 billion/- per year from transferring patients to overseas upon completion of a major expansion of the Aga Khan Hospital that will see the health facility develop into a major teaching and tertiary academic medical centre.

The Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the government spends enormous amount of money every year in providing tertiary level treatment to Tanzanians in overseas hospitals.

Tanzania: Minister Unveils Phase II of Aga Khan Hospital in Dar 2016-08-24
Posted August 24th, 2016 by librarian-hdDar es Salaam — The minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu, and Princess Zahra Aga Khan yesterday launched the second Phase of the Aga Khan Hospital construction.
The health facility will be built at the cost of Sh167 billion in which the French Development Bank has provided concessionary long term financing of Sh112 billion while Sh55 billion is a grant from the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
The new building will take 170 hospital beds.

JCI is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to continuously improving, providing and sustaining safety and good quality medical services. The accreditation means that the Aga Khan Hospital has achieved a level of quality and patient service that is equal to the best hospitals in the world.

Serena chain takes over the Movenpick Royal Palm Hotel in Dar es Salaam 2011-12-02

TANZANIA (eTN) - East Africa’s leading tourist hotel chain, Serena Hotels, has officially taken over Tanzania’s biggest hotel, the Movenpick Royal Palm Hotel, in the Indian Ocean city of Dar es Salaam.
Previously managed by Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts, the Movenpick Royal Palm Hotel has been rebranded to the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel effective December 1, 2011 with a new management team.
