AGA KHAN ONLY BIDDER FOR NIL HOTEL - 2003-11-17
A new attempt to privatise Nile Hotel International (NHI) has reached its final stages with the Aga Khan set to win the deal after his Serena Tourism Promotions Services Limited was by Friday evening the only bidder. The Privatisation Unit's Michael Opagi received only one out of the expected five proposals for the management of the hotel. He said the financial bid opening would be conducted this Friday. Five companies pre-qualified which included Tata (Uganda) Limited who had teamed up with the Indian Hotel Company limited, Mosa Court Apartments, in partnership with Southern Sun Group of South Africa and Legacy Group Holdings Limited. Others were Kersaf Investment Limited and the Serena Tourism Promotion Services Limited, which is owned by the Aga Khan Group.
