Aga Khan III Called to Mediate Between Faiths - 1893

Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III was called upon to settle major riots between Muslims and Hindus.
Owing to his influence, his followers not only refrained from participating in riots but helped the authorities in restoring peace and order. They gave shelter to a number of Hindus although two of His Royal Highness's personal servants had been killed in the riots.

April 10, 1889 - Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III gave Holy Deedar to the Jamat and made Farman relating to the story of Hazrat Musa and Hazrat Khizar.

Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah Ascends the Throne of Imamat - 1885-08

August 1885 Aga Shah Aly Shah, our 47th Imam, passed away at Poona, India. He was buried at Najaf, Iraq, which also the burial site of our first Imam, Hazrat Ali.
Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III ascended the throne of Imamat in Bombay, India at the tender age of 7 years, 9 months and 16 days. During the first Mulaqat with the Jamat declared, 'O Jamat do not consider Me small....'

Sir Sultan Mohamed Shah, Aga Khan III ascended the throne of Imamat in Bombay, India at the tender age of 7 years, 9 months and 16 days. During the first Mulaqat with the Jamat declared, 'O Jamat do not consider Me small....'
There were many Ismailis in the congregation who were sad at the passing away of Aga Shah Aly Shah.The new young Imam noting the sadness in the faces of those around him at the recent death of his father had said 'Why are you sad? The Imam is sitting in your midst and doing your work.'

Birth of Imam Sultan Mohamed Shah Aga Khan III - 1877-11-02

His Highness the Aga Khan III, Hazrat Imam Sultan Mohamed Shah was born on Friday November 2, 1877 at 'Honeymoon Lodge' in Karachi.
His birth was an occasion of immense joy for the family and particularly his grandfather, Hazrat Imam Hassanali Shah, Aga Khan I, who named him 'Sultan Mohammad.'

His mother, Lady Aly Shah, belonged to the Persian Royal family. In later life, she was also bestowed with the honour of the Crown of India by the King-Emperor of the British Empire.

The Aga Khan Unit for Housing and Urbanisation was established at Harvard's Graduate School of Design with a gift of U.S. $530,000.00 from Mowlana Hazar Imam to complement the work of the Aga Khan Programme for Islamic Architecture at Harvard. This Unit is an integral part of Harvard and the M.I.T.

Event - 1989-B

Address at the Ahmedabad luncheon by the Aga Khan Development Network (A.K.D.N.) of institutions. In His address, Hazar Imam said: 'Substantial growth must be rooted in policies that preserve the rural environment, enable rural communities to live in harmony with their surroundings and slow down the process of urbanization.' Aga Khan University signed an agreement with Sudbury Memorial Hospital, Sudbury, Ontario, that will see Sudbury's medical staff helping to train their counterparts in Karachi, Pakistan.

Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development through Filtisac, an AKFED sponsorship, came to an agreement for the public flotation of its shareholding with the Government of the Ivory Coast.

The Cantonal authorities of Geneva hosted a lunch in honour of Hazar Imam to mark the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Aga Khan Foundation. Presenting Hazar Imam with a book of engravings depicting Geneva's rich past, the President of the State Council, Jean-Phillipe Maitre, recalled the Aga Khan family's long and friendly relationship with the city. here]
