Private Wing Complex in Karachi known as the Princess Zahra Pavilion.

Today September 6th, 2021 The New Private Wing Complex known as the Princess Zahra Pavilion was opened at The Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. Princess Zahra delivered remotely the address at a special ceremony which was hosted by President Firoz Rassul and various donors

The New Private Wing complex at AKUH’s main campus in Karachi represents a state-of-the-art facility, offering to patients a high quality of clinical care with additional touches of comfort and convenience. The complex houses 85 rooms, including special care rooms, isolation rooms, family lounge, dining court, roof terrace, and more.

The facility has been designed to provide peace and tranquility to patients as they recuperate from clinical procedures. Inspired by Islamic Art and Culture, the architecture and landscaping have been carefully designed to create a calming environment that contributes to patients’ healing process and early recovery.

Various parts of the building offer views of lakes and lush green gardens, while the outside courtyard offers soothing sounds of birds and water fountains. In addition, the numerous well-lit and open spaces offer respite to family members as they wait for loved ones to get better.

The complex began operations in 2019, and today stands strong in demonstrating the mission of the wider Aga Khan Development Network, and the aspirations of its founder and chairman Mawlana Hazar Imam.

In his remarks, President Firoz Rasul welcomed guests to the event, and shared the Aga Khan University (AKU)’s vision behind the design and construction of the New Private Wing at the Hospital in Karachi.

“This is the result of a globe-spanning collaborative effort to reimagine what an inpatient hospital facility can be,” he said. “It is both a venue for the delivery of world-class care and a welcoming oasis of comfort and beauty for patients and their family members.”
