Prince Rahim Aga Khan V arrives in Kyrgyzstan to present Architecture Award 2025-09-15
This prestigious international architecture award is presented once every three years, with a total prize fund of $1 million.
More than 150 officials, architects, and scholars from around the world are expected to participate in the event.
The award was first presented in Central Asia in 1992 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Established in 1977, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture is one of the most significant international prizes in the field of architecture. It aims to support projects that enhance cultural heritage, architecture, and the living environment of Muslim communities.
The Award is governed by a Steering Committee chaired by His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. The winners of the 2025 Awards will be presented with certificates on 15 September and share the $1 million prize, one of the largest in the sphere of architecture worldwide.
In Kyrgyzstan, public lectures and exhibitions will precede the award ceremony and an architectural seminar will be held on 16 September. These events come as the Kyrgyz Republic and the Aga Khan Development Network mark 25 years of bilateral relations.
Earlier, it was reported that Kyrgyzstan’s Cholpon Ata declared the SCO cultural capital.
