The Serena Hotel in Nairobi is undergoing a major $6 million renovation of public facilities and services and plans are being considered to extend the recently renovated Serena Beach Hotel at Mombasa. The proposed extension which includes three up-country lodges. The Serena Group, with hotels in Kenya and Pakistan, is operated by Tourism Promotion Services (T.P.S.), the tourism development wing of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (A.K.F.E.D.).
