It gives me great pleasure to be in Oxford this evening. I am most grateful and honoured that your Society should invite me to talk about the Ismaili Community and its contribution to the Commonwealth.

After all of the formal and informal discussions and today's summary remarks, there is very little for me to say.

After one last, critical look at their immaculate cadet uniforms, Ismaili Moslem students carefully spread a red carpet outside the front door of Overlea Secondary School.And then they formed themselves into an honour guard. Excitement was running high.

During the month of December 1986 when the Jamat in Bangladesh received the news that Mowlana Hazir Imam is going to visit Bangladesh in early January 1987 their hearts filled with hapiness, joy and excitement. Soon they became busy in preparation of the visit.

During his visit to Kenya in July 1991, Mowlana Hazar Imam, Chairman of the Board of the Aga Khan Foundation, announced a contribution of KES 30 million 'to double the pledges already made by donors to the endowment fund established by the Aga Khan Foundation, Kenya'.

During his visit to Karachi for the inauguration of the Aga Khan School of Nursing, Hazar Imam was awarded honorary membership in the Pakistan Medical Association. 'For the first time in the 33 years History of the Pakistan Medical Association,' said Dr. Jamshed H.

After his visit to Zanzibar in October 1988 to attend a seminar organized by the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, Mawlana Hazar Imam returned to Zanzibar on December 6, 1988 to sign a Protocol of Co-operation for Development with the Government of Zanzibar. Chief Minister Hon.

Canada's McMaster University, on Friday May 15th, 1987 conferred upon Mawlana Hazar Imam an honorary degree (LLD) in recognition of Mawlana Hazar Imam's leadership in the advancement of health and education in the third world.
