Former Getty Director Michael Brand Heads to Aga Khan Museum - 2010-08-23
Posted August 23rd, 2010 by heritageTORONTO. Michael Brand, the former J. Paul Getty Museum director who stepped down at the Los Angeles institution earlier this year, has been appointed to a consultancy post at the Aga Khan Development Network.
The position places Brand — an expert in Asian art — in line to assume the directorship of the Islamic art and culture museum when it opens in a Fumihiko Maki-designed building in 2013.

Upon his arrival in Ottawa, Mawlana Hazar Imam was welcomed by Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon, Ismaili Council for Canada President Mohamed Manji, and other leaders of the Jamat and AKDN institutions in Canada.

TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning wins Ontario Association of Architects award - 2010-05-13
Posted May 14th, 2010 by heritageThe Royal Conservatory TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning in Toronto has won this year’s Best of Show Award from the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).
The jury said the 1,100-seat concert hall has been widely praised both for its acoustic qualities and its physical beauty.
The centre was designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects.
The 2010 People’s Choice Award went to The Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in Ottawa, designed by Maki and Associates and Moriyama and Teshima Architects.

Officially opened in December 2008 by His Highness the Aga Khan and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat is Ottawa’s newest architectural jewel. Built by distinguished Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, this secular building is an impressive addition to the capital’s ceremonial route. Governor General to invest His Highness the Aga Khan as Honorary Companion of the Order of Canada - 2005-06-03
