Posted April 20th, 2010 by heritage2007, October 25:Egypt's Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni and Prince Karim Aga Khan, the current Shi'a Imam, will inaugurate two Islamic complex of Khayer Bek and Um El-Soltan Shaban at Al-Darbul Ahmar area in Historic Cairo. The two have been restored in collaboration with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. The Minister and his guests will embark on a tour to inspect the restoration work. [Inauguration]

Serena opens branch at Lake Victoria, Uganda - 2010-04-19
Posted April 19th, 2010 by heritageTHE Serena Group has set up a second hotel in the country, the Lake Victoria Serena Resort. The resort, which is part of the Aga Khan economic empire, lies on an expansive piece of land measuring 275 acres on the shores of Lake Victoria.
President Yoweri Museveni yesterday presided over the official opening.

As guest of honour at the ceremony held on the roof of the nearly completed Ismaili Centre in central London, Prince Amyn Mohammed said that the Centre has the "the difficult vocation of bridging East and West, of bringing together strong and brilliant cultures."

Inauguration of the Revitalized Forodhani Park, Stone Town, Zanzibar - 2009-07-30
Posted July 31st, 2009 by heritageThe US$ 2.4 million restoration of Forodhani Park in Zanzibar’s Historic Stone Town has been completed by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC).
The restoration of Forodhani Park is intended to be part of a larger seafront rehabilitation programme, encompassing: construction of the seawall; underground infrastructure including water, storm and sewer lines; and, the creation of a pedestrian promenade, including planting, street lighting and street furniture along the sea side.

AKU Dental Clinic opens in Nairobi - 2009-01-22

He stated with satisfaction that donors in Canada had funded the "state of the art" equipment for the dental clinic.

A secular facility, the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat will serve a representational role for the activities of the Imamat including its development agencies which constitute the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

Posted June 3rd, 2008 by heritagePrincess Zahra visited Toronto, Canada for three days to Chair the International Ismaili Women's Forum under the auspices of the International Social Development and Sports Foundation. The conference took place from May 9 to May 11, 1997 at a resort in King City, just north of Toronto called Eaton Hall. On the opening day, Princess Zahra spoke on the role of women and on the need for enhancing the status of women in society with particular emphasis on Ismaili women. Approximately 100 delegates from all over the world attended this Forum. Princess Zahra wore a green business suit.

Hazar Imam gave a speech at this ceremony where he said; 'The Aga Khan School, Sherquilla, is a project of which everyone in the Jamat and in the village can be proud. This school is a marvelous example of what voluntary efforts can achieve. The achievement here at Sherquilla should give everyone the confidence in the abilities of the people of the North.' May 14, 1983 : Mowlana Hazar Imam inaugurated the Singal Medical centre.
